Saint-Dyé delights anyone who passes through its narrow streets, squeezed between Renaissance houses that have been worked by time. Taking advantage of the prosperity of Chambord, from the 16th century onwards, it was a good idea to stay in one of the dozens of inns in Saint-Dyé or to be invited into the private mansions built by families of notables and merchants. But with the detour of the main road and the Revolution, the hours of glory of Saint-Dyé were numbered from 1773, and, like Cinderella at the stroke of midnight, Saint-Dyé became once again the modest village of yesteryear... But one thing has hardly changed, and that is the pleasure of welcoming the short-lived guest.
