We're at the crossroads of 2 well-known valleys, the Dordogne and the Vézère. The village tumbles down the cliff, and is best explored by walking past the three fortified gates still clinging to the remnants of the ramparts. The charming little Romanesque church of Saint-Martin de Limeuil is over 800 years old. Its proportions, cul-de-four choir and impeccable framework make it a feast for the eye. Inside, the dome at the transept crossing and the fragments of fresco are well worth a visit (May to October, daily). The association responsible for restoring the church organizes top-notch concerts during the summer.
