A commune which, as its name suggests, is situated on the Sauldre, one of the many rivers flowing towards the Loire. Once crossed by the Roman road, the small village of Pierreffitte (from "pierre fichée", meaning "stone", translating the menhir at the entrance to the village) boasts a landscape full of flowers (it is one of the 200 best flowered towns in France), a church made of pink Sologne stone and a statue of Joan of Arc erected in 1895 in the main square. Finally, you can walk along the path known as La Grande Prairie to admire the fauna (kingfisher...) and the local flora of this protected area or even go fishing.
