Things to see and do Les Eyzies

This classified site belongs to Jean Max Touron who has 5 others in Périgord. It is a part of steep cliffs completely excavated by caves, refuges and undergrounds. Inhabited since prehistory, this complex was arranged into a fortified castle in the Middle Ages, then re-used and transformed into a dwelling by farmers until the Sixties. The traditional dwellings have been recontructed. The entirely sonorised visit is divided into 4 parts ranging from prehistory to the present day: prehistoric park with themes (reconstitutions of scenes of life in which a woman giving birth), caves and shelters, cluzeaux and walks on the cliff where we notice the marks of the Middle Ages because the Rock was used as fortress, homes cut in the rock and converted in farmhouse until the middle of the 20th century. In summer, prehistoric interactive workshops are offered in season, flint knapping, shooting with engine, fire lighting, painting... They take place every day except saturdays from 1.30pm to 7pm without additional charge and without booking. Conference visit on the theme of human occupation of cliffs from Prehistory, every Saturday at 3pm, without reservation and without extra cost. Games-quiz and adventure route for children.

The municipality of Les Eyzies-de-Tayac-Sireuil proposes to relive 350 000 years of history in just a few kilometers! It is on the loop of the Micoque that you will discover this open-air museum. At the departure of the Vézère Park, the path crosses the river to go back to the fort of Tayac, where the first men sheltered themselves, before continuing to shelter from the fish. You can observe the role of water in the artistic representations of the Paleolithic, before continuing to the Laugeries. Here you can go back to the village and the shelter of Cro-Magnon, or continue on a longer loop, 12 km. It will take you to the Site site before offering points of view on Grand Roc and Madeleine.
