Situated between Chambord, Blois and Cheverny, this small town stands out for its Old Market dating from the 16th century, which bears witness to the commercial past of the town situated at the crossroads of important communication routes, and also for its church, Sainte-Nicaise, whose origins date back to the Middle Ages. Porthos, one of the four musketeers of Alexandre Dumas, had the title of Baron of Bracieux and Pierrefonds. In homage to this character of the novel, the town hall has dedicated a statue to him which can be seen in front of the Max Vauché chocolate factory between the church and the municipal campsite (even if the writer situates the Bracieux of the novel in the Paris region).
