This village on the edge of the Orléans forest is home to a charming little church and the beautiful Loiret castle (16th century), a private building whose ancient fortifications can be admired, the enclosure being studded with a dozen towers. For the record, the name Nibelle comes from King Charles IX when he offered this castle to his mistress: "Here is your beautiful nest". Nibelle is also known for its pottery; the Saint-Sauveur museum retraces its history. Its speciality: the Bouëlle, a terracotta jug topped with a dog's head with its mouth open. When you are in Nibelle, go and take a look at the belvedere!
