Halfway between Tours and Saumur, Rigny-Ussé is crossed by the Loire and Indre rivers, which have been responsible for regular flooding throughout history. The traditional tuffeau houses, covered in slate, have stood the test of time. Legend has it that the château inspired Charles Perrault to write his fairy tale Sleeping Beauty. Over the centuries, the building has been constantly embellished, making it a place of rare elegance, richly furnished and boasting numerous gems, such as a trompe-l'œil ceiling, the Vauban salon and the splendid French garden designed by André Le Nôtre, shaded by majestic cedars of Lebanon.
