Chisseaux, a peaceful village of 600 inhabitants, is one of the oldest settlements in Touraine. Diane de Poitiers acquired the fief in 1555 and incorporated it into her castellany of Chenonceau. The church dates from the 10th century, the choir and the bell tower from the 12th century. On the north wall, you can see a fragment of a 13th century fresco representing the Last Supper, of which only the image of Christ and the five apostles seated on his right remains. Also worth seeing is a well-restored Renaissance castle and the Moulin Fort, an old mill situated on an island in the Cher, on the piles of which a very beautiful manor house was built at the beginning of the last century. The town offers walks on the river
