SCHOOL MUSEUM
Unusual place to discover or rediscover the school of the past, the Récamier school, built at the end of the 19th century in Lille.
Housed in the former Ruault-Récamier school built at the end of the 19th century, the Public Schools Museum is an unusual place to discover, or rediscover for some, the school of yesteryear. From the dunce's cap to the penholder, including large maps and textbooks, all the objects of yesteryear are preserved in this typical 1930s classroom. Sitting at the desks, visitors learn historical facts and anecdotes from their guide. The visit ends with an original and complex activity: writing with a penholder and purple ink. Being a schoolboy in the 1930's was no easy task! The direct surroundings of the Museum also allow you to discover the city with a small walking tour around the key monuments of Lille and a public garden allows you to relax after the visit. But be careful, the reservation book is very quickly full, so don't wait to book your visit and discover the school of the past.
