They say there can be 600 small planes in the sky at any one time in Alaska. Although privileged, it is a very common means of transportation here. They land on lakes, on skis or buoys, in villages often accessible only by air. Here we fly over one of the wildest national parks in all of America, the gateway to the Arctic. It is home to a remote village, where the inhabitants themselves refuse to have road access. The state had started building a road but it was hijacked by a petition and is now out of use.
