This magnificent all-wooden boutique is well worth a visit, if only for the calm it exudes, the beauty of the floral arrangements, the freshness of the surroundings and, of course, the subtle fragrance of all the flowers wafting through the store. Beautiful bouquets, highly stylized and creative, and sometimes a little (too) convoluted. Unfortunately, like everywhere else in San Francisco, prices are very high. Ixia's flagship boutique is located in the Castro, but another shop can be found in Richmond.

As the umpteenth chinoiserie store on Grant Avenue, you may be discouraged by the idea of entering this establishment. However, there are no crickets singing here, but rather a pretty collection of decorative objects, delicate crockery and giant lanterns that you'd be tempted to take home with you. Perhaps slightly more expensive than some of its neighbors, Old Shanghai is also a guarantee of better quality. If you're short of gifts to bring home, throw yourself into the beautiful purses, wallets and silks for a few dollars.

Chic and design, that's how you could define the products offered at Gump's. This august store opened 150 years ago in San Francisco, specialized in mirrors and frames until the 20's. It offers a whole range of interior design items, from jewelry to furniture, silverware and cut crystal vases. The store is huge, you will be spoilt for choice between the different floors. You will be able to please your mother-in-law as well as your girlfriend!
