For an original, inexpensive and all over the archipelago type of accommodation, you can turn to the Camping Böd Network. A böd is an old traditional fisherman's house. They can be found all over Shetland. Nine of them have been summarily refurbished to accommodate travellers from March to the end of October, and can accommodate from 4 to 16 people. The facilities are basic and you have to bring your own sleeping bag, but the authentic experience is guaranteed. Please note that some have no electricity or shower

This is not camping, but glamping... the camping in its more glamorous version. This glamping is located a little away from Inverness, in the North-East, going towards Culloden. Its pods can accommodate 4 guests (one double bed and one bunk bed), with shower and toilet, but also a terrace with garden furniture, for lunch or dinner, with a view on Black Isle. A common area with dining area, refrigerator, microwave oven and dishwasher is available. Wi-fi is available everywhere. Pets are welcome.

This small campsite offers superb views of the surrounding area thanks to its position overlooking Levenwick Bay and has room for 12 tents and 6 caravans or motorhomes. It's very simple, with only the basic facilities. There are toilets and showers available, as well as an enclosed kitchen area and a picnic area amidst wild flowers and recently planted trees. The location is ideal and the peace and quiet is assured. It is sometimes possible to come out of season, but it is necessary to call and book in advance.

A short distance from the pier, this well-equipped campsite offers an original offer. In addition to the classic pitches for tents, caravans and camper vans, you can opt for a shielding: a kind of large, permanently installed tent that is reminiscent of those in a military camp. It accommodates from one to six people, and some even have their own bathroom and a small basic kitchenette. Residents have access to shared showers and toilets and a common room. Rental cottages are also available.

It would be difficult to imagine a better location than this campsite: between the hills, close to the loch and the castle, a stone's throw from the distillery... Deer even come to walk there at the end of the day, on the adjacent golf course. Tents, caravans and camper vans are welcome and you can also opt for a pod, a kind of small hut where you can stay between two and four people. Showers, toilets, microwave and refrigerator are available.

This bucolic campsite is located in the middle of the forest, 3 km from the centre of Aviemore. Lovers of wild camping will be served! Each site is different, adapted to the relief and the presence of trees. Amenities include toilets, showers and laundry facilities, and pitches for caravans and campers include electricity. The Rothiemurchus activity centre is a short distance away, making it a good base for all outdoor enthusiasts.

Situated in the heart of the Glen Nevis, in the shadow of the gigantic Ben and in beautiful surroundings, this campsite offers a varied choice of accommodation. In addition to pitches for tents, caravans and camper vans, it is possible to take a cabin per night (one pod for two people) or to rent a mobile home per week (sometimes less) for more comfort. There is a mini-market on site and, of course, communal showers and toilets. The campsite also has its own restaurant and bar - the Glen Nevis Restaurant & Bar - which serves traditional pub food.

As the name suggests, this very well equipped campsite has its feet in the water in Gairloch. You can pitch your tent or bring your camper and caravan, but you can also rent a house or stay in a "wigwam" at night, a kind of small cottage. Showers and toilets are accessible to all and there is a building with a kitchen and dining room, as well as picnic tables. A small shop and a café are open in high season. You can also rent bikes and kayaks in the summer, or fish in the loch and river of the domain.

Situated on the A838 between Lazy Crofter and the Tourist Office, this campsite enjoys a superb view. The location on the coast is impressive and you can pitch your tent for free in the off-season (showers and toilets closed). In season, it is better to book in advance if you need electricity. The campsite also has a good small pub-restaurant with the same name. Its menu has a good choice and is reasonably priced. The decoration is quite typical and warm, with wood, brick and a billiard table.

This campsite is located just above the town of Glencoe on the B866 across the River Coe. The offer is varied, with pitches for tents, campers and caravans, but also mobile homes, cottages, lodges (mini-chalets), bungalows and even pods. Attention: motorhomes are not allowed. The situation in front of Loch Leven is charming and you can even go boating there.

Situated on the banks of Loch Scresort, a 10-minute walk from the ferry terminal and Kinloch Castle, it offers a minimal accommodation solution at low cost. The campsite is basic but still includes two toilets and two showers. No need to make a reservation, you pitch your tent and deposit your money in the honesty box, and it is also possible to book your arrival on the website. Wooden cabins or chalets, as well as a "bothy", are also available for more comfort. The site is managed by the Isle of Rùm Community Trust.

It is certainly one of the best campsites in the entire park, with 168 pitches on the edge of Loch Lomond. Tarbert Holiday Park, located on the banks of Loch Fyne, 10 minutes from the port of Tarbert, offers camping, but also glamping in pods! These small, rounded wooden structures can accommodate two to four people in a small but cosy and well-arranged space. The pods are heated and each one has an outdoor space. There are two categories: the singles equipped with single beds and without bathroom, the "luxury" ones with their double bed, their private bathroom, TV, refrigerator and kettle

In addition to this, the setting is magnificent: view of the loch, a huge wooded area, green as far as the eye can see. Of course, the campsite offers everything you need: sanitary facilities, laundry and even more, with a slipway for boats and canoes and an art gallery.

The Red Squirrel is a small, simple campsite for tents, campers and caravans. Close to the Clachaig Inn, it is particularly well placed. It offers all the attractions of wild camping - simplicity, wide open spaces, beautiful scenery, peace and quiet... - with a certain comfort - showers as well as toilets are available, wi-fi, electricity. You can come with your tent, camper, caravan or horses. The campsite is also open to groups, with a reduced rate for more than 25 people, and an even lower rate for associations.
