Fruit and vegetable producers New Aquitaine

Open field, in season and extremely fresh! At the Jardin des Saveurs, you will find fruits and vegetables galore. Picking is self-service from mid-May to the end of October. At home, there is sometimes not enough space to grow vegetables, and even though we often try to harvest what we sow, we have to face the facts: being a market gardener is a job. With a basket, you can make your choice, everything is sold by weight. Every day, Patrick and Dominique Pierre put on their website the production ready to pick.

Frédéric Mouret's family farm harvests untreated walnuts sold under the Noix du Périgord PDO. This organic farm specializes in nuciculture, the cultivation of walnut trees. On-site production of walnuts in shell, walnut kernels and traditional walnut oil, awarded by the Guide des Gourmands (a Coq d'Or awarded by gastronomy professionals), and Saveur d'Or 2021 and Saveur d'Argent 2022 at the Saveurs Nouvelle-Aquitaine competition. Free tours of the farm in summer (please book the day before).

In Scorbé-Clairvaux, six employees of Le Ressort, an employment-oriented company, are reviving the mushroom farm. In the cellars, nearly a ton per month of white button mushrooms, oyster mushrooms and shiitake mushrooms are grown. The production is sold on the spot, at the Galerie du Réemploi in Naintré or in supermarkets, in local produce stores and on markets (Tuesday in Scorbé-Clairvaux, Wednesday in Colombiers and/or Ozon, Thursday in Cenon-sur-Vienne). Don't hesitate to try the processed products: velvety button mushrooms, Greek button mushrooms, oyster mushroom spread... For good local mushrooms, you now know where to go!

Eysines is one of the towns in the metropolis that has the most producers and market gardeners. For more than 10 years, Le Jardin d'Ethan has been selling seasonal vegetables grown either in the open field on 10 hectares of land or under 2 hectares of greenhouses, or in neighbouring farms. The fruit, produced in integrated or organic farming, comes from Gironde, Lot-et-Garonne, Dordogne, Roussillon, Lot, Corsica or Sicily. The products are sold in wooden or plastic crates given free of charge.

For 4 generations, the Fournier family has been growing apple trees on a 10-hectare farm in the Coteaux des Savoies region. Rubiette, golden, topaz, opale, choupette and all the others (17 varieties!) start their annual gala in September, and that's when you can come and pick them yourself. For the rest of the year, these magnificent, tasty, organic fruits are on sale in the boutique, along with juices, fruit purées and neighboring products. In summer, there are also apricots, peaches and nectarines.

In the orchards of the Monein region, it grows and flourishes in the sun of the Jurançon region, which gives it a beautiful intense yellow color: the Roussanne peach is a real treasure and you absolutely must taste it! Today it is one of the emblems of the local terroir and at the cooperative dedicated to it, you will find the best of the productions of about fifteen members. Sold in trays, it colors the summer and inspires the recipes because, on the spot, it is declined in compotes, jams, nectar of peach or even oreillons in syrup.

Astrid and Cyril will fill your basket of season and red fruit vegetables that, on time, you can pick up on this vegetable farm! (Pick-up is only possible by appointment). The characteristic of their production: a wide range of proposed fruit and vegetable species, respecting the seasons. Hey, yes, tomatoes don't grow all year long.

Along the road from La Roche-Posay to Châtellerault, the Les Jardins d'Hespérance organic market garden farm is one of the largest in the department. Claude Plault heads the farm. Since 2008, he has been cultivating 4.5 hectares of land to produce tomatoes (including heirloom varieties), squash, zucchinis, eggplants, leeks, lettuces, carrots, radishes... Depending on the season, vegetables are sold directly from the farm or at markets: Tuesday and Friday in La Roche-Posay, Sunday morning in Poitiers aux Couronneries, Saturday morning in Chauvigny.

These are pretty little red and perfumed pearls, which are not used to make necklaces, but succulent jams, cooked in a traditional way in a copper cauldron. In her biodynamic and organic farm, Céline Leyssenne-Lespagnol produces strawberries, raspberries, redcurrants, blackcurrants, blackberries, which she then transforms on the spot into nectars, coulis and above all into numerous varieties of extra jams. It is also possible to taste these fruits just picked, and to participate in the picking. Member of the Bienvenue à la ferme network.

In the heart of Les Halles d'Anglet, renowned for the quality of its produce and the warm welcome offered by its food trade professionals, you'll discover the colorful, well-organized stall of new owners Julie and Julien, who have taken over this already renowned fruit and vegetable business (formerly Manu Primeur). Julien chose the name in memory of his father(Aïta in Basque), who made it his profession. In addition to freshness, quality and the season that determines the product, you add professionalism to the selection and service. The result is a long-lasting business.

The two brothers, Vincent and Simon Baille-Barrelle, work together to develop the family orchard, which has been awarded the "Vergers écoresponsables" label, with quality, traceability and authenticity as their guiding principles. Visit the farm store for their apples (some of them organic) and juices, as well as strawberries and many other fruits and vegetables in season, and many other products selected by them. And why not try your hand at picking beans, zucchini and squash in the field or vegetable garden - a fun, family-friendly activity!

Benjamin and Laetitia set up this farm in 2020, followed by a boutique in 2023 where you'll also find products from other producers. You'll find all the fruits and vegetables of the season, as well as groceries, local dairy products and more. You can also meet the farm's animals, including the herd of Highland Cattle and Ouessant sheep that tend the meadows. They are also sold at local markets.

In spring, we watch for the farm's announcements to go pick strawberries and raspberries. Grown under cover, at man's height, without chemical treatment, they have made the reputation of La Frolle. At the head of the farm, François and Simon Beneteau have chosen a reasoned agriculture and welcome the public all year round for direct sales and picking of multiple fruits, from their 12 hectares of orchard. On the spot, in the nursery, you can also find different flower, shrub and vegetable plants to replant in your garden.

At the helm of this friendly farm is the Bidan family, well known for their asparagus production. During the spring production season, generally from mid-April to early June, you can order your asparagus and pick it up at the farm on certain days. But the Bidans don't just grow asparagus, they also produce organic table grapes of the Exalta (sweet white seedless) and Muscat de Hambourg varieties. So the harvests come thick and fast in September, and so do the sales.

Direct sales of fruit from the orchard, apples and pears of various varieties. You can buy fruit by the case (with deposit) or in 3 kg bags and bottles of apple juice. The fruit harvest begins in the last week of August and lasts until April, depending on production. The first varieties harvested are "Williams" pears and "Gala" apples, and later, in autumn, Chanteclerc, Golden, Fuji... and for pears, Conference and Comice. A true conservatory orchard!
