A capital region par excellence (it has eight departments), Ile-de-France is full of surprises and even the best tourist guide to the region would not be able to list everything! From Lutetia to the gradual construction of the Greater Paris, through the emergence of new cities, the Ile-de-France has been, and still is, the setting for the most decisive hours in the country's history. You will find a profusion of monuments(Versailles or Vaux-le-Vicomtecastles...), places classified as national and world heritage(Saint-Denis basilica, Arc de Triomphe...), museums(Louvre museum, Pompidou Center...). A cultural and intellectual metropolis, Ile-de-France is also the country's economic lung, accounting for nearly a third of the national gross domestic product: the business district of La Défense, for example, is a perfect example. And contrary to popular belief, the region is essentially green and has many forests (Fontainebleau forest comes to mind). The Ile-de-France region has a population of more than 12 million, which is one fifth of the French population. The offer in terms of culture, leisure(Disneyland Paris) and sports(Stade de France, Roland Garros...) is therefore also very important to satisfy the entire population of Ile-de-France. In short, from Montreuil to Versailles, via Neuilly-sur-Seine, Cergy-le-Haut and, of course, Paris, Ile-de-France is the region of all possibilities and all excesses!

When to go to Ile-De-France?

When to go to Ile-de-France? Absolutely all year round, as there are so many things to see and do! To be more peaceful, you should nevertheless favor the intermediate seasons: fall and spring. Very popular all year round, Ile-de-France nevertheless experiences small lulls during these periods, which allows tourists who are fleeing the crowds but are still attracted to the region to go there more quietly and at a lower cost.

In winter, the Christmas lights illuminate the cities and give the cities of the region a very pleasant atmosphere.

In summer, however, the region is emptied of its inhabitants and filled with visitors. Accommodation prices increase and reservations must be made several months in advance.

Finally, many events (festivals, sporting events, exhibitions, trade shows...) are held throughout the year: these can of course affect your stay in Ile-de-France.)
