The flying club was founded in 1947 by Henry Metz, a locksmith born in Sarrebourg in 1892, who learned to fly during his military service in the German army. The airfield has two runways running south-north, one asphalt runway 740 m long and 20 m wide, the other grass runway 770 m long and 80 m wide. There is also a parking area, a hangar and a fuel and lubricant station. It is used for leisure and tourism activities: light aviation and model aircraft.

Geeks can practise their skills on the flight simulator, a two-seater, dual-control training aid that reproduces the ergonomics of a glider cabin, with all the controls of a real glider: stick, airbrakes, landing gear. The flight environment is projected onto a wall using a video projector.
