LE FUNICULAIRE

Funiculars and cable cars
5/5
5 reviews

The Tréport funicular offers a unique experience: a superb trip through the cliff overlooking the seaside resort, starting from the Cordiers district. At the top, you will discover the incredible view of the sea and the horizon. Opened in 1908, the tunnel allowed tourists from the Grand Hotel Trianon to reach the beach easily. Put back into service in 2006, it has been equipped with 4 new cabins that operate on the principle of an inclined elevator. The crossing takes 1 minute and 55 seconds, enough to think you are Jules Verne. Not to be missed!

PORT DE BARFLEUR

Port
4/5
2 reviews

It is a small jewel of the Cotentin Peninsula, which has earned Barfleur regular recognition as one of the most beautiful villages in France. It is also, and especially for some, a very practical anchorage port, in an area that is certainly less turbulent than the Raz-Blanchard, on the other side of the peninsula, but not always easy to understand. Here, we welcome, only at anchor, boats of 15 meters maximum, up to 125 places. A slipway and toilets are available for boaters, and the whole is splendid.

PORT JEHAN ANGO

Port

In the heart of the city, the port bears the name of the famous Norman shipowner who distinguished himself in the 16th century by initiating great expeditions to the Americas and Africa, thus enabling him to make his fortune with the import of spices, ivory, and redwood. The port of Dieppe was expanded during this period, and its maritime vocation was never denied. Bombarded by an Anglo-Dutch fleet in 1694, it was destroyed. By order of Louis XIV, Antoine de Ventabren undertook its reconstruction. Vauban and Trudaine enlarged it. Today the port offers 530 berths.

SAINT VAST PORT

Port
4/5

Accessible when the door is open, and therefore depending on the tide, the port of Saint-Vaast has several hundred moorings, including a part reserved for passing yachtsmen, which sail along the superb Cotentin coastline. Ideally located, it is not off-centre, unlike many other ports. As soon as you disembark, you can enjoy the active life of the port directly - and Saint-Vaast's is undeniably so. The well-situated harbour master's office is the nerve centre of the whole.

The second marina in the department after the department of Cherbourg, the Hérel in Granville, has several hundred rings. Ideal place of departure or arrival for pleasure boaters, it is located in the immediate vicinity of the centre of Northern Monaco and its activities. Accessible at high tide, the basin is the result of a water restraint carried out using a table door. The Granvillais port has the equipment to repair and maintain your boats. From here, you can easily reach Saint-Malo at 25 miles or Jersey, only 30 miles away.

Doing Caen-Ajaccio with a Spanish airline, for example, is Europe! It is called Volotea and allows you to connect to Ajaccio, Bastia, Figari, Marseille, Toulouse and Palma de Mallorca, at competitive prices! Enough to pay for the trip often, with family or friends. Of course at this price, foie gras and champagne will not appear on the meal tray but whatever the drink, as long as you have your head in the clouds! Be careful, as flights are becoming increasingly successful, it is better to do it well in advance!

Designed to make life easier for the people of Rouen and their access to the beaches of the Alabaster Coast, the A150 freeway links Rouen to Yvetot, and is connected to the A29 towards Fécamp and Le Havre. Free of charge from Rouen to Barentin, it becomes a paying road for the Barentin-Yvetot section. The concessionary company of the A150 has recently joined forces with SAPN, the concessionary company of the A29, in order to offer a very interesting subscription for home-work journeys, with reductions on tolls that can reach 40%. A great deal for the people of Rouen.

In Normandy, trains are a great way to get around! Here, the former TER and Grandes Lignes network is called Nomad. The aim is to enable Normandy railways, in partnership with the SNCF of course, to offer a clearer range of services. In the region, the network is vast: no high-speed lines, but numerous short lines linking medium-sized towns, all articulated around the main routes of Paris-Caen-Cherbourg and Paris-Rouen-Le Havre, the latter being timed to ensure easy connections and clear timetables.
