Krishna's birth is celebrated all over the country, especially in the cities of Mathura, Vrindavan and Dwarka.

The birth of the god Krishna is celebrated throughout the Hindu month of Shravan with great pomp in the cities of Mathura and Vrindavan, but it is especially in Dwarka that the celebrations are the most exuberant. Terracotta pots containing yogurt are hung in the windows, temples are decorated and episodes from the life of Krishna are depicted everywhere in both cities. In Delhi, the Laxmi Narayan Mandir celebrates this event and attracts several hundred pilgrims. Also celebrated on Tulsi Ghat in Varanasi.
