Welcome to Brittany! Welcome to a land of legends. Welcome to a land of adventurers. Welcome to a beautiful and authentic land. This region, we tell you straight out, you will love it! Let's even bet that a first escapade will lead to a second, then a third... A region that we love to discover on foot along the very maritime GR®34, the famous customs trail that runs from one end to the other, from Mont-Saint-Michel to Saint-Brévin-les-Pins

By the sea or inland, beauty is everywhere

Each department - Côtes-d'Armor, Finistère, Ille-et-Vilaine (also known as Upper Brittany) and Morbihan - is rich in cultural, maritime, rural, architectural, religious and gastronomic heritage. It is often the coastal Brittany, the one of the sea, the Armor, which attracts first... And rightly so: it is grandiose! If one can also be seduced by the inland Brittany, the Argoat, it is the coasts that are revealed in all their splendour along the customs path. In short, the region has so much to offer you! Bewitching, mysterious, authentic, it invites you to a journey through its legendary forests, frequented by Merlin, the characters of the Arthurian story or the giant Gargantua and the prankish korrigans. Brocéliande and Huelgoat are full of magic and tales to be discovered during walks or in the evening, by a warm fire.

Towns and countryside, fishing ports and picturesque villages, tourist sites and mysterious places, hedgerows and forests, stories and legends, museums and leisure parks, Brittany is a land of contrasts that offers a real patchwork of places to be explored without ever getting tired of it. Smell the sea air, listen to the songs of the Mary Morgans or the complaints of the Anaon in the Baie des Trépassés; play customs officers and smugglers along the Pink Granite Coast; become a pirate or privateer in Saint-Malo; travel back in time in Carnac; meet mysterious creatures at La Roche aux Fées; slay dragons with Saint Michel at the famous mount that bears his name; explore the historic castles and medieval towns; enjoy the beautiful seaside resorts and small coastal villages... The diversity of the landscapes and the richness of its culture make the attraction of this region which marries advantageously authenticity and modernity.

The customs path, to the assault of the most beautiful sites of Brittany

Brittany offers many remarkable sites for walking and hiking. It is obvious that the most beautiful sites in Brittany can be discovered on foot. And what about the famous "sentier des douaniers"? The sumptuous GR®34, which circles the region over nearly 2,000 kilometres, is the most maritime of the long-distance footpaths. When you know that these small coastal paths almost perished under the vegetation about thirty years ago... Fortunately, local associations, hikers and the Conservatoire du littoral took matters into their own hands. This is how the salt spray trail took a new turn for the greater happiness of all nature lovers. We leave Mont-Saint-Michel towards the extreme west, where the sea becomes ocean. It is impossible not to visit this place! At the top of the rock of Mont-Saint-Michel, the abbey raises the spire of its abbey church to an altitude of more than 150 m, which is overlooked by the archangel Saint Michael, the true symbol of the Mont. We then take the road to the magnificent ruins of the Pointe de Saint-Mathieu, a tip of Finistère and a true concentrate of Brittany. Then, the landscapes follow one another: marshes, dunes, moors, steep cliffs where common and protected species nest... While in the open sea, islands and islets mark the first steps of a supposedly old continent. Bréhat, Ouessant, Molène or Belle-Île-en-Mer, like so many mythical names for these bits of land that have dropped anchor facing the coast. This is how the GR®34 goes from the Pointe du Grouin, where we will stop with happiness in Dinard, for its Belle Époque charm, its magnificent beaches, its walks along the sea, its sumptuous listed villas, its gardens planted with a Mediterranean vegetation. Opposite, Saint-Malo takes us back to the time of the privateers, while Cancale, which is home to 11 kilometres of the customs path, has an undeniable charm. This pretty fishing port has long been renowned for its oysters and attracts crowds on Sunday mornings for its large market. After this well-deserved gastronomic break, we hit the road again. The cliffs of Cape Fréhel, Perros-Guirec and the lighthouse of Ploumanac'h, the bay of Morlaix, the pointe de Pen-Hir, Quimper, Concarneau or Larmor-Plage are waiting for you, before arriving in Saint-Brévin-les-Pins, the end of 2,000 kilometres of happiness. In short, this is a must-do trail in Brittany and a unique opportunity to discover this exceptional coastline
