The Bahamas Tourist Office, in its December newsletter, highlights the country's commitment to the environment. It states that the State of the Bahamas, made up of 16 main islands in the heart of the Caribbean, is considered to be a precursor of " green friendly ". In January 2020, the archipelago introduced a zero plastic and single-use polystyrene policy. And to end the year on a high note, the young Bahamian activist Kristal Ambrosehas just received the prestigious Goldman Award for inspiring a movement to clean up beaches and promote the anti-plastic law. An international recognition that encourages the country's efforts to position itself as an increasingly responsible destination.
