CASA MUSEÚ ALMADA NEGREIROS

It is also a restaurant, installed in a beautiful traditional house where you can have lunch on a pleasant terrace overlooking the green valley. No menu, but a menu composed of two small starters, a traditional local dish and a dessert. It's simple, copious, with a pleasant presentation.
PAPA FIGO
Read moreSmall unpretentious café-restaurant where locals and expats gather in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Simple and good food is served relatively quickly: some of the staff speak enough French or English to decipher the menu and make themselves understood. You can enjoy local specialities, copious fish kebabs or homemade hamburgers. Sometimes, concerts of local artists animate the place. Friendly welcome, service sometimes a bit long. An address not to be missed in the capital!
O PIRATA
Read morePirata, like an echo of the ship that ran aground not far from there, is an improved beach hut, with white tablecloths and wooden floor. It serves fish, lobsters, prawns, crabs and Brazilian-inspired dishes. The whole thing is ok but a bit disappointing considering the potential of the place which has an open view on the sea and the sound of the waves in the background. If you like to admire the landscape, come rather at lunch time: the bay is not lit at night and if there is a power cut... you will really not see anything anymore!

To refresh yourself, try the lemon juice with mint, delicious! Large choice of teas. Very pleasant welcome.

FRUTEIRA SEM PE
Read moreYou'll be able to choose between typical dishes (for 4 people or more, by reservation) and ordinary dishes such as grilled fish or chicken, in this family-run roadside maquis. It's run by Mrs Ortencia and her daughter, both true cordon bleu cooks. Everything is cooked over charcoal to please the taste buds, and the plates are tasty and generous. We recommend eating on the terrace, which is much nicer than the small, airy dining room. To save time, we recommend reserving your meal in the morning. A warm welcome.
