EL ALI
Read moreA favorite in the medina! Excellent table for lunch, very good address for tea and a real reference for its cultural events, El Ali is above all a beautiful family story. That of Taïeb Bouhadra, who, after inheriting the house, could not resist sharing it with as many people as possible. On the menu, traditional dishes are complemented by a revisited section and the chef's inspirations; with vegetarian and gluten-free dishes as options. The welcome is very warm, and the decoration is well done. To discover!
LE CAFÉ JOURNAL
Read moreIf the initial vocation of this café was above all cultural (support to artists, exhibition place, national newspapers at the disposal of the customers...) and if it wanted to be the meeting place of the artists and the intellectuals of the Tunisian place, the Café Journal has only the name of it. It is in reality a hype café frequented by the Tunisian golden youth. It remains however a good address for a coffee on the heights of Gammarth. An address to come and have your coffee in the morning before going to the coast of Carthage!
EL FONDOUK
Read moreWe fell in love with this former fondouk dating from the 18th century transformed into a nice bar-restaurant. The tables are installed in a pleasant courtyard beautifully decorated, between tradition and arty touches. On the ceiling, decorations made of palm tree fibers, on the floor a nice sky blue furniture. Exhibitions are held upstairs. You can come from morning to night, from breakfast to the festive evening, including lunch. A small store offers handicrafts and a large collection of books (including the nice Elyzad editions). A must see!
CAFÉ SIDI BOUHDID
Read moreHammamet's favourite café, stuck to the side of the medina and facing the sea. No sand, the sea water comes to wet the wall. Admiring the sunset on the Gulf of Hammamet from the terrace remains a delight, despite the world that passes through; but the place becomes truly magical when you settle in its more authentic enclosure, within the medina. You can sit down on the steps with carpets and cushions, in the oriental style, to smoke shisha while enjoying the sea air. The evenings are very cheerful there.
CAFÉ DES NATTES
Read moreAt the top of the main street, there are still a few steps to climb to enter one of the most famous establishments in town. Clint Eastwood, Sean Connery and Johnny Hallyday used to stay there. In other times, it was Paul Klee, Simone de Beauvoir, Montherlant or André Gide, and their memory still hovers there. Lying on the mats, visitors sip their mint tea or gurgle their chicha. Those who like a nice view will prefer the terrace with a panoramic view of the Café des délices.
CAFÉ DIWAN
Read moreThis Moorish café is located in a tower, the el-Mill Borj. The Diwan café is one of the most enchanting and relaxing places in the medina. On the first floor, the sun is soft by the pergola, men smoke the chicha and drink a genuine Turkish coffee prepared in the ancestral way. From the terrace there is a panorama of the new city.
LE GRAND CASINO DE DJERBA
Read moreThe Casino of Djerba wants to offer a range of entertainment for all audiences: family evening or gourmet dinner, slot machines or green carpet ... This casino is especially 20 tables of green carpet and 160 slot machines. More than a casino, it is also a leisure space with a video game room for the youngest, a gastronomic restaurant where you can taste for about 35 DT a gargoulette of king prawns with saffron.
DESPERADOS
Read moreA busy, busy place. An old bar transformed into an electro club and it's quite successful!
LE CAFÉ DES DÉLICES
Read moreIt is THE terrace café that you see on all the posters of Sidi Bou Said. With an unobstructed view of the bay, Korbous in the distance and the Bou Kornine mounts which point twice in the background, one can only stop and admire... And when the sun sets, and the visitors of the day withdraw, the atmosphere becomes more local, more muffled, honeyed. We appreciate the maze of terraces and the colored mats. A big regret however: just like at the Café des Nattes, the drinks are expensive and served without real attention, too bad!
CAFE-THEATRE D'ART BEN ABDALLAH
Read moreIn front of Dar Ben Abdallah, cultural café and showroom. A fabulous cultural place in the heart of the medina offering year-round programming and cultural evenings throughout the month of Ramadan.
CAFÉ CHICHKHANE
Read moreThe Chichkhane café is a rather typical place where conviviality rhymes with relaxation. A reputation acquired thanks to the efficiency of the young staff, to the richness of the crafts presented and to the decoration. It's time for tea... and chicha for the amateurs with the flavors of watermelon, melon, cherry, coconut and pineapple, which do not take away from the fact that 30 to 50 puffs of chicha inhaled over an average duration of 1 hour, are equivalent to 2 packs of cigarettes. Beware, on summer evenings, the free places are taken by storm.
RESTAURANT NEPTUNE
Read moreIt's a little the place to be for young sfaxienne, who likes to get there in the evening, especially on Thursdays. Once a week in fact, DJ or Tunisian groups come to animate the room. Modern and contemporary setting.
CAFÉ KEMOUR
Read moreHeld with pride from father to son since 1840, the café-tea room Le Kemour was given a new lease on life in 2013. Often nicknamed "the house of tea" by travelers, the place now welcomes a mixed and varied clientele, which is not always easy in the medina. Take a walk on the roof terrace: beautiful view on the Great Mosque. The arches and the beams date back to 1101, date of foundation of the religious building. We recommend this nice address during your stay in the city of Sfax.
CAFÉ MAAZIM
Read moreA pleasant terrace facing the sea and the Spanish fort where you can sip a mint tea (no alcohol) by smoking a chicha. This is the favourite meeting of the locals during summer evenings. Beautiful Tunisian decoration inside coffee. Wi-Fi.
CAFÉ HAJ HASSEN
Read moreLocated on a small square lined with five huge trees, the Haj Assen café is one of the most typical of the island. From its large terrace, you have a beautiful view of the Mosque of the Turks. It is an ideal place to feel the atmosphere of Houmt Souk. You can drink a Turkish coffee, a good lemonade or a mint tea, and above all you can observe the life around you: the friends who meet, the older ones who play cards or dominoes, those who read the newspaper or watch a soccer match. A whole theater that unfolds before your eyes!
CAFÉ BEN JEMAA
Read moreFounded in 1932, the Ben Jemaa café is an institution of the village. At the top of the streets, next to the mosque, you can enjoy a beautiful panorama from the terrace of the café. Kaouthar, the granddaughter of the founder, renovated her grandfather's café to make it a very pleasant address, nicely decorated with Berber carpets and colored cushions. You can appreciate the freshness of the stone when you arrive and then enjoy a Turkish coffee or a delicious almond tea. An excellent first step in your discovery of the Dahar!
LA BELLE VUE
Read moreWe love this café on the side of the mountain. You will recognize it with the big stairs near a ruined ksar. The view on the village below and the valley is extraordinary (and even more at sunrise and sunset). Since 2012, Abdallah, the owner passionate about his region, welcomes you with a smile. La Belle Vue is in fact a tea room with terrace, a corner selling local products (figs, honey, etc..) and a store of superb carpets of Toujane, on sale from 40 DT. A restaurant is in project on the floor of the coffee.
