Created in 2008, "August in the museums" is a promotional operation whose objective is to make the general public discover, or rediscover, all 4 establishments grouped within the Museum Service of the Regional Council of Martinique, scattered throughout the territory:

The Ecomuseum of Martinique, in Rivière-Pilote,
The Regional Museum of History and Ethnography, in Fort de France
La Maison des Volcans, in Le Morne-Rouge.
The month of August, a holiday par excellence, is a time for development, through family visits, intergenerational links and exchanges around local heritage.
The choice was therefore made to highlight, every Wednesday of the month, one museum in particular, through a renewed and diversified theme and activities. Thus, everyone is invited to take a cultural tour of Martinique through often playful activities and a lively approach to artistic and cultural know-how and practices.
In 2014, the International Year of Family Farming, the various events proposed are organized around the theme "Cultures"
