The new Fondation Clément building designed by the architects Reichen and Robert & Associés will be inaugurated on Sunday 24 January with the "Hervé Télémaque" exhibition designed and produced by the Centre Pompidou.

Installed in the Habitation Clément, a famous hundred-year-old rum house classified as a historical monument, the Fondation Clément, which since its creation has exhibited the work of more than 160 Caribbean artists, has been entirely re-imagined by the architects Reichen and Robert & Associates

The new Habitation Clément is a concentrate of Martinique's imagination thanks to a rum, a large agricultural landscape, a lush park, an industrial complex, wineries and a historic house. After the "winery", the "square" room and the "nave", each with its own distinct and visible personality, the Foundation has created a new space dedicated to contemporary Caribbean art

These different places are articulated around a common space, in the image of flower petals, so as to facilitate the link between the different structures while keeping an aesthetic aspect. These rooms are spread over two levels, through the hall, the galleries and the lower hall. On a third level, a 200 square meter library has been designed where the documentary collections are listed.

For its inauguration, the Fondation Clément has chosen "Hervé Télémarque" to open from January 24 to April 17, 2016. An exhibition that met with great success at the Centre Pompidou and the Cantini Museum in Marseille where it was presented last year. However, the Foundation has made it a point of honour to host a different exhibition, which is why it has selected the works it wishes to present at this exhibition
