Nordine Bouanani is a professional guide in Algeria. For over 10 years, he has worked with French tourists, but also travelers from around the world. In particular, he was the leader of the film teams of the superb Thalassa show devoted to Algeria, released in April 2015. And it's been our guide for a long time at missions Algeria for the Petit Futé guide dedicated to the destination! In Paris, he made a point about tourism in Algeria for us.

How does tourism work in Algeria currently?

Tourism is starting at this moment mainly thanks to the enormous, very positive impact of the broadcast of the Thalassa broadcast on Algeria. We have a lot of applications for September 2015 and even reservations until April 2016. Above all, they are black feet that want to return to their homeland, from expatriate families in Algeria, but also from tourists who want to make cultural tours. Religious pilgrimages around Saint Augustin, originating in Algeria, are also booming.

What are the reactions of tourists visiting Algeria for the first time?

They are generally bluffed by the beauty of landscapes and preserved sites in the country, including archeological sites such as those of Tipaza. But what affects them most is the warm welcome of the people.

How is tourism in the Sahara?

Outside the park of Tamanrasset which is forbidden to foreigners because of its proximity to Mali, everything else is accessible to tourists. For example, the Djanet Park has always been open for visits. We must be aware that the Sahara is a very safe area, because the Algerian state dominates its borders very well and the paths of tourist circuits are closely monitored by the authorities. Of course, we must not go alone to adventure in the Sahara! First of all, because we can get lost without guide and then for obvious security reasons. The ideal is to reserve your stay with a travel agency and choose a circuit. In this context, professionals are supervised and security is ensured. For a circuit of 8 days/7 nights with 4 x 4, bivouacs, accommodation, full board, visits, and Paris/Alger-Alger/Djanet flights, it takes about 1300 euros per person.
