Eating at Darinia's is an unmissable culinary experience when visiting the Corn Islands. Please note that reservations are now compulsory.

Baho Vilma is a family-run business with three restaurants in Masaya (one near the municipal market, another near the artisanal market, and a third near Los Leones park) specializing in baho, a typical Nicaraguan dish based on meat, plantain and manioc. Other local delicacies include vigorón (a salad of cabbage, boiled cassava and chicharrón) and chancho con yuca (pork with cassava). All accompanied by a variety of drinks, and at very low prices. Not to be missed!

A not-to-be-missed Bluefields treat is the ceviche at El Chino, which the friendly, charismatic owners (Chinese, as the name suggests) serve up in plastic containers, to be eaten on wooden tables in the restaurant's small courtyard. It's a real treat, with fresh produce and a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. The spicy sauce is also worth trying, for those who aren't afraid of spices! What's more, the ceviche is very cheap... an address not to be missed!

The Coliseo is located to the north of the city, at the top of a hill overlooking the entire bay... an unmissable panoramic view! On the food front, you'll find seafood and local specialties, including lobster cooked in a variety of sauces for US$10. If you prefer less expensive options, turn to the meats (beef, pork, chicken...) or fish fillets. The restaurant also has a small swimming pool, where you can have a snack served to you.

As its name suggests, this restaurant is located right on the sea... what could be better than feasting your eyes on the blue sea? We serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. On the menu: a wide range of seafood dishes (shrimp, lobster), and fish in all its forms (grilled, ceviche, fish tacos...), with a variety of side dishes. Meats and salads are also available. In this restaurant, located a stone's throw from the artisanal market, you can dine on delicious Lebanese, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern dishes. Shawarma, grilled meats, hummus, large platters of skewers to share... there's an embarrassment of riches to choose from, and everything is of the highest quality. Have a cup of black tea too. Gourmets can round off their meal with a cinnamon baklava.

If you're exploring the Miskito village of Awás (a short, pretty walk and bike ride from the village of Laguna de Perlas), stop for lunch at the Tropical View restaurant: it has a beautiful view over the lagoon, and serves local cuisine (including shrimp and fish, but also meat). The music is pleasant and the atmosphere warm and relaxed. What's more, you can take a dip in the lagoon right after your meal, diving straight off the dock. A stop not to be missed on your visit to the village.
