The Mi-Carême, a public holiday, is the occasion to parade one last time before the following year. Red and black are the order of the day.
Carnival is back for a day, as if in a last gasp before next year and a break during the Lenten season. If you've missed the many parades during the Canarvalesque period, you can make up for it by attending or taking part in this one. Traditionally, festival-goers parade through the streets of Pointe-à-Pitre and Basse Terre in a "déboulé" or "vidé", late into the night, in costumes different from other days; in red and black. Mi-Carême day is a public holiday.
