Easter is celebrated on a Sunday between April 4 and May 8, on a date that varies according to the Julian calendar. It is the most important, and festive, Christian holiday in Serbia. People wish each other Happy Easter by saying "Christ is risen!" and "He is risen!". Every household paints eggs on Good Friday - before Easter. The first egg is painted red and is displayed prominently in a corner of the house. It will remain there all year until the next Easter to protect the house (in Serbian - "čuvarkuća")
