Events calendar Madeira

In the east of Madeira, Machico organizes a gastronomic, popular week full of flavours, dishes and typical sea cooking. Other activities accompany the celebrations: sports tournaments (football, volleyball, basketball), cocktail festival, music concerts.

The Funchal International Film Festival takes place in the municipal theatre Baltazar Dias. The main objective of the FICF is to disseminate quality films, not known to the madérien public (fiction, documentaries, animation films…).

This sporting event takes place on the island of Porto Santo, built in an absolutely splendid route, the opportunity to participate in a fun and healthy weekend.
In addition to the Marathon, travelling 42,195 km on 2 towers, the event often includes half marathon, 6,5 km mini marathon plus a walk on foot (health walk) of 1 km, with free participation.

This long distance triathlon takes place on the island of Porto Santo. This competition includes the following steps: 1 900 meters of swimming (2 towers), 90 km of cycling (6 towers 15 km) and 21 km of race (4 rounds of 5 250 m).

This annual golf tournament in the calendar of the European circuit brings together every year the best players competing for victory, hole by hole. According to the rules, the last two days of each event are contested by the top 70 players, selected from the results of the first 48 hours of the tournament.

Organised by the Madeira Free Flight Association, the demonstration brings together, over three days, regional, national and international pilots across the island: Cabo Girão, Canhas, Arco da Calheta, Chão da Lagoa, Funchal, Seixal and Rabaçal… Places with excellent conditions and beautiful scenery. 

Organized by Camacha Town hall in Ribeira dos Boieiros (Ovil), the Cut Festival is an original event with extensive programming with animations, photographic exhibition alluding to this mowing activity, shops (drinks, meals) and small stands featuring articles made from sheep wool. 

Madeira's Classic Automobile Club organises the Tour de Madeira, some of the 60 old cars participating in the tour are unique copies, launched on the island's winding roads.

In order to safeguard the important musical heritage of Madeira, this regional meeting of philharmonic bands expresses the public's appreciation for the incomparable gaieté they provide during the typical Madériennes festivals. On Sunday, all bands participate in a parade in the main streets of Ribeira Brava before concentration on Marginal Avenue, where each presents a repertoire, then final with the execution, by all the bands, of a hymn composed specially for the event, taking the trophy, followed by a convivial party offered to all the speakers.

This great tasting of "traditional Madeira dishes" animated Fajã do Penedo (Boaventura, São Vicente), in order to promote the typical gastronomic Traditions of Christmas (liqueurs, cookies, cakes etc.) all ambiancé by several folk and musical groups.

In Caniço de Baixo, the gastronomic week takes place in the evening on the promenade, combining several musical groups during tasting. Hotels, restaurants and bars in Caniço participate in the festival.

Santa Catarina Park welcomes this pop/rock music festival, integrated into the Funchal City day commemorations. Legendary Tigerman, Xutos & Pontapés, James or The Gift have already been part of the poster. This initiative includes other recreational activities, such as workshops and awareness campaigns on environmental and forestry issues.

This Grape and Farmer festival takes place in Porto da Cruz, a locality with a great wine tradition, the delight is set in a large popular animation with many cultural moments, all marked by a allegorical parade.

The European Cup of Combined Tests is promoted by the Athletics Association of the Autonomous Region of Madeira.

This folk musical festival in the south of the island welcomes several regional, national and foreign groups.

This Agriculture and Fisheries Show, dating back to 1955, seeks to promote the development of the two sectors. Many shops allow you to spend a good time, drinking and eating in a real village feast.

The Funchal Junior Open of Table Tennis takes place shortly before its great brother the Open International of Madeira. 

Lying on the slope just below the Belvédère lookout, the Graça Chapel witnessed religious ceremonies and procession on August 14 and 15. The festival continues with the traditional customers-customers, music and animations.
