CORNERSTONE SOCIAL HOUSE
Read moreThe closer you get to Victor Hugo's house, the more tired and thirsty you become. The slope is steep, so refreshment is often welcome as you approach the Holy Grail of Saint-Peter-Port. The atmosphere here is relaxed, with the usual draught beers and a mix of tourists, investment bankers and retired investment bankers. This self-proclaimed social house is decorated in a friendly, modern style. The menu is a little more elaborate than in the classic pubs. We really like it!
THE COCK AND BULL
Read moreThis pub located below Victor Hugo's house welcomes both golden boys and sailors with full beards. Here, concerts are frequent (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays in general) and the decor is very warm. One also comes for the enormous choice of English beers (some undrinkable, others excellent) rather unknown in France. And the atmosphere is really warm, whether it is in the room applauding the musicians, in the patio with a drink in the hand or around the pool table with the local young people.
TROUBADOUR
Read moreThe Troubadour is a nice pub that is hard to miss once you've set foot in Jersey. In fact, when the weather is nice, its huge terrace that stretches over the whole central square (the one you see when you get off the ferry) is unmissable! Inside, we do in the classic: wood, bar seats, televisions for the sport and dozens of beers on tap and in bottles. It's the perfect place to enjoy the last rays of the setting sun. We love it... when the weather is nice!
THE LAMPLIGHTER REAL ALE PUB
Read morePerfectly located in the very center of the capital city of St. Helier, The Lamplighter is a traditional pub, all dressed in red of course, where it is good to end a long day of visits and walks on the island. And, like any self-respecting pub, the establishment offers a very wide range of beers and whiskies, sometimes unavailable elsewhere in Jersey. And what is a good sign is that the pub is (frankly) very popular with the islanders
PORTELET BAY CAFE
Read moreThe Portelet Bay beach café is a must on sunny days, from spring to fall. Located on the right side of this beautiful sandy cove, this establishment is reached after a short walk or by boat. The café offers a beautiful terrace and a rustic room, all dressed in wood. A perfect spot for a lunch between a swim and a sunbathing session or to have a drink. On the menu, pizzas, antipasti, beautiful salads and the eternal and succulent linguine with crab. An excellent address
THE MERMAID TAVERN
Read moreThis is THE pub on the island of Herm. You will have no trouble finding it since it is located in the heart of the village. Closed or very quiet in low season (ask about opening days and hours if you pass by), it welcomes a lot of people in good weather, after swimming, sunbathing and paddle sessions. It has a courtyard for sunny days and a fireplace to warm up in low season. It is also a good place to nibble on the great classics that you find on a pub menu.
MARAIS HALL PUB
Read moreThe Marais Pub Hall is one of the oldest pubs on the island of Alderney, located just opposite the old cow market - note the splendid trough in the square. It is a nice traditional pub with a strange decoration, but with very friendly and accommodating staff. It is therefore an excellent place to see the local life of the island and meet the locals! In addition (which doesn't spoil anything), the atmosphere is very good, the selection of beers well thought and the small events rather regular.
DIVERS INN
Read moreOn the harbor and with a beautiful view on the beach of Braye, this unpretentious pub (which belongs to the hotel Braye Beach) is an excellent address to relax with a hot or cold drink and a seasonal dish. No great cuisine here, it's true, but an atmosphere always conducive to exchange. In the evening, it's a bit of a meeting place for sailors and port personnel. The atmosphere, very local, is relaxed and moreover, as soon as the weather is fine, you can enjoy the beautiful terrace of the establishment.
THE TRAFALGAR INN
Read moreThe Trafalgar Inn is a small pub well placed at the intersection of High Street (the main street of Saint-Aubin) and the Saint-Aubin road (which leads out of the village). It's a typical place with a relaxed atmosphere that is perfect for a rainy afternoon with a beer in hand. Although the owner can be a bit grumpy, the atmosphere around the pool table can be nice... And it goes up a notch during the evenings when bands are playing or when there is a soccer game on the screens of the establishment.
THOMAS DE LA RUE
Read moreIn the heart of Saint-Pierre-Port, a stone's throw away from the tourist office, this friendly pub is one of the island's music lovers' meeting places. Here, from the small stage at the back of the room to the good quality sound system, everything is organized for the pleasure of your ears, during the musical evenings of Friday and Saturday or theopen mic of Monday. A pub which is a bit out of the ordinary where the welcome is very warm. And the beers are always fresh, starting with the Liberation Ale, the award-winning beer produced in the Channel Islands.
THE SWAN INN
Read moreThis traditional green pub, overlooking a soulless boulevard, has been awarded many times for the quality of its food, sometimes even qualified as gastronomic. One would almost forget that it is above all a pub. And a real one. English, with all the decorum and of course the beers that go with it. A warm address, held for some time by a rather young team, which also proposes all the big soccer, cricket, boxing or rugby matches on its screens. Ambiance guaranteed on weekends!
ALBION TAVERN
Read moreThe Albion Tavern is a friendly, traditional pub. You'll find a wide choice of draught beers, wines (sold by the glass or bottle) and spirits. More than the choice here, it's the configuration of the premises that's worth noting: several rooms are superimposed, each with its own atmosphere. So there's something for everyone, from sports fans (first floor left), to families (first floor right) or billiards enthusiasts who can take advantage of two tables (1st floor). A pub that's a little polymorphous...
THE CHAMBERS
Read moreA pub styled in light, contemporary tones, with an attractive mezzanine. It's the perfect place to relax or enjoy a late afternoon drink. You'll find a lot of islanders coming here after work, so it's a relaxed place to enjoy an aperitif. The atmosphere goes up a notch at soccer matches, but especially at the final whistle, when Jersey's youngsters come to sway to the sounds of the DJ or live bands, for one of the best atmospheres on the island.
PRINCE'S BAR
Read moreIn the Havre des Pas, the pubs are not legion. It is so much better for the residents because these last ones can sometimes generate a certain number of decibels. Fortunately for us, we can find this bar of princes which differs a little from this type of places thanks to its terrace, its evenings "open mic", its karaokés, its evenings bingo, its quizzes, its charity evenings. With its situation, it is moreover a perfect place to decompress after a beautiful day of beach and to refresh itself after a small session of bronzing.
THE DOG & SAUSAGE
Read moreThe main attraction of this small pub seems to be, in the evening, the electronic jukebox and during the day its beautiful terrace which stretches next to the famous shopping street of Saint-Hélier. It goes without saying that we recommend it for the days of good weather when the terrace is open because, the evening, our musical tastes are not referenced... We like it during the day and we are not the only ones: on Saturdays and Sundays, it is the meeting point of the families who come to stroll on Queen Street and make a shopping session
THE OFFICE
Read moreThe Office is a small wooded and traditional pub located in a street adjacent to the port. Very well located in the center of Saint-Hélier, it offers nothing but a relaxed atmosphere, a regular and rather male clientele, themed evenings (live music or karaoke on Friday and Sunday evenings), darts games and the eternal TV screens for the broadcasting of (many) soccer matches. The bar is always full and attracts mostly locals from mid-afternoon
THE QUEENS INN
Read moreIn the heart of St. Martin's parish, the newly renovated Queens Inn is undoubtedly the locals' favorite pub. Here, they meet for lunch, tea or the usual evening beer in front of the sports broadcasts on the establishment's screens. As a result, the place is very often full, summer and winter. And you can see why as soon as you walk in the door: comfortable sofa, spacious tables and a bar area separated from the other rooms. The address is very simple, but welcoming and really typical.
THE PORTELET INN
Read moreNot far from the cliffs of Portelet Bay and nestled in a superb building dating from the 16th century with a flowery and stone façade, The Portelet Inn pub is a great classic on the island of Jersey and an address that is always very popular with tourists and locals alike. The recipe for success? Good pub food brought up to date, a nice drinks menu and a nice terrace to enjoy the sun on sunny days and especially a superb view. There is also a nice playground for children
THE GEORGIAN HOUSE
Read moreOn the main street, this nice pub seems to be the heart of the city and therefore of the island. The adjoining garden makes it an unmissable meeting place during the nice days. The rest of the year, we squeeze in the two main rooms, cosy and very nicely decorated. On the program, beers, good glasses of wine and a large choice of teas and coffees also proposed during the afternoon. A good plan, board games are available free of charge for the days without sun. We like it a lot.
THE CORONATION INN
Read moreThe Coronation Inn is the place to be for the "young" in town. This probably has something to do with the fact that it is the cheapest pub in Alderney. Or not... Anyway, here you will see the children of those you met elsewhere, and those dreaming of elsewhere. Quite exotic and funny, we assure you! And the place is warm and cosy. In addition, an adjoining store of wines and other spirits will allow you to do some shopping and to bring back a small liquid souvenir at home. Cheers!
