FESTIVAL DU YAK

Very touristy, this festival has become a must in the valley of Orkhon. Mongolia has the second largest population of yaks after China, with more than one million heads. This wild animal, domesticated by the nomads, provides them with meat, milk and fur. Entirely dedicated to this ruminant of the steppes, the festivities include mounted races, yak polo, milking competitions, lassoing and rodeo, not to mention the contest for the most beautiful animal. Entertainment and a change of scenery guaranteed!
