From the airport to the city centre Kyrgyzstan

The country has only one international airport, in Bishkek (www.airport.kg). Bishkek has regular connections to Urumqi (China Southern) in China, Moscow and Yekaterinburg (Aeroflot) in Russia, London (British Airways) and Istanbul (Turkish Airlines). The latter three airlines then serve all European capitals. From France, Turkish Airlines or Pegasus (via Istanbul) or Areoflot (via Moscow) are the most convenient routes. The average price of a round trip from Paris to Bishkek varies from €600 to €800. This is what you will find with Turkish Airlines, Aeroflot or Lufthansa. Apart from international routes, Manas airport serves Osh daily. Neighbouring countries are also served regularly: Tashkent with Uzbekistan Airways, Dushanbe with Tajik Air or Almaty with Air Astana. Many airlines have a representative office in Bishkek, most of them located on Sovietskaya .

The airport is about 30 minutes from the city centre by taxi or marchroutka, count double by bus. Minibus No. 153 leaves from the intersection of Osh and Chuy Prospekt.
Manas Airport has a cafe, several foreign exchange offices (open from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm), an ATM that accepts Visa cards (but only issues soms) and mobile phone SIM cards.

Arrival by train Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan, which is very mountainous, is rather poorly served by the railway network. Only one domestic line crosses the country from east to west via Bishkek: it stops in Balykchy on the shores of Lake Issyk Kul, and goes as far as Kazakhstan if you take it west. From there, there are connections to Moscow (visa required) and then to Europe.

Moscow, the only international destination, is connected to Bishkek three to four times a week.

Public transport Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan is a very mountainous country, and the only road that is really practicable all year round (at the cost of incessant work) is the one between Bishkek and Osh. China is working to improve many other roads, particularly the one linking Bishkek to Kashgar via Torugart, and the one linking Osh to Naryn via Kazarman. There are many taxis and a few minibuses on these roads, but the buses are unable to climb the hills. Budget accordingly for shared taxis or car rental.
