In a superb setting overlooking Lake Albert and the Blue Mountains of Congo, this lodge, opened in 2007, offers accommodation in eleven luxurious thatched cottages with warmly decorated thatched roofs. Elaborate cuisine with fresh products and the possibility to set the table in the middle of the bush. Small swimming pool for cooling off, very pleasant in the stifling heat of the Rift Valley. The activities on offer are of course game drives, but also walks, fishing on Lake Albert and visits to fishing communities...

Opened in 1948 and home to Queen Elizabeth II a decade later, the former Windsor Lake Victoria Hotel is one of the city's most prestigious establishments. After months of facelifting, this beautiful white colonial building now boasts an attractive design. The hotel's rooms are stylish, modern with bright colours and flat-screen TVs. Spa, gym and a beautiful swimming pool are also available. Good food and a warm welcome. Wi-Fi and transfer to/from the airport are included in the overnight rate.

Just a stone's throw from the golf course, the premises, restored a few years ago, house seventeen clean, comfortable rooms equipped with everything you need: minibar, bathroom, television, air-conditioning, safe, cosy bed... In addition, they have a large mirror that allows you to sit down and readjust your heart's eye catchers as best you can before dinner (usually good) taken on the terrace by the swimming pool. With its relaxation area (sauna) and quietness, the Fort Motel, opened in 2006, is an ideal place for a green setting.

A friendly camp for small budgets that welcomes a lot of overland trucks and groups. The small and clean bandas with two single beds are very good value for money. For camping, you pitch your tent wherever you want on the central terrain without any extra equipment. The common sanitary facilities (sometimes) leave a little to be desired. Nice restaurant. The Red Chilli is located on the left bank of the Nile, 600 m from the pier. A special hire (including the entrance of the driver in the park) can be organized from Masindi: count 200 000 Ush.

Housed in a building with slightly ochre walls, the Palace's 13 rooms are bright, well-maintained and, in some cases, spacious. In addition to a sofa, some of them even have an impressive bathroom worthy of a real... a palace. The serenity of the premises - just a short distance from the green spaces of the golf course and a 20-minute walk from the city centre - is enhanced by a beautiful garden. A car park and a restaurant, not very glamorous under its tin roof, complete the list of the establishment's amenities.

The motorized can benefit from this establishment, which offers a relatively rare quality in town. Perched on a hill, this spacious, green house offers a 180 ° view of Victoria Lake, which can be enjoyed from the restaurant, the beautiful swimming pool or the rooms. The Dutchess is not only the best table in Fort Portal. It is also a charming hotel with five rooms: three colourful, comfortable and fully equipped "luxury" rooms, one "semi-luxury" room with a "small corner" but sharing the shower with the single room (which has no WC). The Dutchess is owned by two friendly Dutchmen, Michel and Heleen, as indicated by the hoof-shaped key rings, the tulip-shaped toilet seats and the windmills lining the walls of the bathrooms. A nice address!

Situated above the lake of the same name, which is accessed by a steep path popular with colobus, this establishment is an excellent base for budget travellers wishing to explore the surrounding area. The Lakeside Cottage at the bottom of the crater is quiet and pleasant. Boat rental (10,000 Ush) for rowing on the sylvan lake waters. Many activities are offered by the staff to discover this beautiful area.

Situated just a stone's throw from the mosque, this hotel offers 29 fully equipped rooms (bathroom, mosquito net, fan or air conditioning, television...), clean if not shimmering, distributed around a central courtyard. Restaurant, bar, wifi and parking. Cordial staff able to direct you to the picturesque places and tourist sites surrounding Kasese. All in all, an address to consider if you want to tackle the slopes of Rwenzori or take a swim in the local hot springs...

This establishment is a great success! The cottages are simple but spacious, well-equipped and fairly good value for money. The view on the lake is superb and the welcome is really warm. Crayfish dishes are served in the restaurant. Several activities are organised on site (mountain biking, canoeing, bird watching, lake cruise...). Note the presence of a souvenir shop, the beautiful site dedicated to campers on the shoreline dotted with palm trees and the pier conducive to big splashes in the yawn!

The Bird Nest is without a doubt the most exclusive address on Lake Bunyonyi. The main lodge,, which is accessed through a garden occupied by two donkeys, is a real success: the rooms, overlooking a cove, are comfortable; the restaurant, on the ground floor, is carefully adored and is the ideal place to taste the famous crayfish of the lake; the terrace, where it is nice to have a drink while taking a cool drink, overlooks the swimming pool ... The Bird Nest lies on the other side of the bay, on a quiet plot of land with seven cottages, the Bird Nest Eco Overseas.

The only establishment located on the heights, the Arcadia offers a fabulous view of the lake and its islands as well as the surrounding relief. The twenty-five cottages are cosy as one could wish for. Kai - the spirited Kenyan manager - and his team, at the oven and the mill, are attentive and organize activities in the surroundings (quad biking, birdwatching, cruising on the lake... ). At the time of our investigation, the restaurant, relocated in the middle of the lovely garden, was under (re)construction. Let's bet it will be open when this guide will be published!

Located on the northern periphery of the park (1.5 km from Nshara Gate), on a rocky spur with stunning views of the surrounding area, Rwakobo is a beautiful address. The cottages, decorated with paintings or photographs, are a success, as are the airy straw hut - serving as a bar-restaurant - and the swimming pool "inlaid" in the granite. Facilities for the youngest, the organisation of cycling and walking tours, the warm welcome of the staff and the ecological concern of the designers add to this beautiful range.

This lodge has a large hut that serves as a bar-restaurant, a swimming pool around which wifi is available and cosy tents and cottages. The latter, well equipped (shower, WC, safe...), have a beautiful terrace where a hammock is hanging. The Nile and its hippopotamuses, some of which invite themselves on the site in the brown, are in the immediate vicinity. As the establishment is often full, it is preferable to book in advance. The Murchison River is located 4 km southwest of Paraa, on the left bank of the river.
