Time difference Maldives
The time difference between France and the Maldives is 5 hours in winter and 4 hours in summer. When it is noon in Paris, it is 4pm in the Maldives in summer and 5pm in winter.
Some islands-hotels cheat on the time zone and practice an artificial time difference of one hour with the Malé time, in order to benefit from a later sunrise and sunset. This is particularly the case in some northern islands

Shops are generally open between 9am and 7pm. Some open earlier, or once the owner is awake, others close later. The only rule is that all shops are closed on Fridays between noon and two. Even the restaurant hours of the resorts are adapted to allow their Muslim employees to go to the mosque.
Enjoying yourself Maldives
In town, restaurants are generally open continuously from lunch until 11pm, or even midnight on Thursday and Friday nights. In the island hotels, each restaurant has its own opening hours. Gastronomic restaurants are often only open in the evening, with reservations. On Fridays at noon, all restaurants are closed between 11am and 2pm, so that Muslim employees can go to the mosque. In the island hotels, the buffets are generally less crowded on that day.

Maldivian days never end late, except on the party islands. Cafes are open during the day and close in the early evening, except for the trendy places that delay closing time until 11pm on weekdays and midnight on weekends.

Shops are generally open from 8:30am to 10pm. They close on Fridays at prayer time between 11am and 2pm. On the island-hotels, the opening hours are about the same.
Get out Maldives
The hours vary greatly depending on the type of island you choose. Some bars on private islands run 24 hours a day, others close at 1am. Some hotels have a happy hour before dinner where you get a free drink for a purchase. On the local islands, there are few places where you can have a drink (even without alcohol) after 11pm.
