From the airport to the city centre Seychelles

To leave the airport, if you don't have a rental car, there's a bus stop just across the street (SR12 a ticket) and cabs waiting for you. Expect to pay SR400 for Eden Island, SR600 for the jetty, SR800 for Beau Vallon and SR900 or SR1,000 for hotels on the west coast. The same applies from Praslin's small airport: hire car, bus (12 SR) or cab (150 SR) to Grand'Anse.

Arrival by boat Seychelles

The boat is ideal for inter-island transport, thanks to the Cat Cocos, which connects Praslin and La Digue from Mahé, and the Cat Rose, which connects Praslin and La Digue. Cruises (some of which offer all the diving equipment) can also be a good option to combine accommodation and transportation. Otherwise, a few cruise boats also stop in the archipelago.

Public transport Seychelles

Seychelles Public Transport Corporation (SPTC) buses run to all hotels and guesthouses. The frequency of service varies according to the line: a quarter of an hour for the main lines, but 30 minutes or 1 hour for others. The fare is always SR 12, whatever the destination.

Bike, scooters & co Seychelles

La Digue is a cyclist's paradise, and you can hire a bike for SR150 a day. However, the roads on Mahé and Praslin are not really suitable for cycling.

With a driver Seychelles

From Victoria station, it costs about 300 SR for Beau Vallon (5 km), 400 SR for the airport (8 km). There is a taxi rank operating day and night in Albert Street, behind the post office. In recent years, unregistered drivers have also been offering their services, particularly from the square near the market, at the crossroads of Market Street and Benezet Street. Their shopping is cheaper, but illegal, and they can be bought on the street. Many taxis also offer to take tourists to Mahé for a small fee of a handful of rupees.

By car Seychelles

The car remains the most convenient way to get around Mahé and Praslin. Many agencies are located at the airport, just outside the arrivals terminal (on the left). Otherwise, all of them can deliver cars to any hotel or guesthouse on Mahé or Praslin. Count on about 50 € per day (decreasing prices according to the duration).

Accessibility Seychelles

Buses are not able to accommodate people with disabilities, unlike some taxis and inter-island boats which can accommodate everyone.

Tourist traps Seychelles

Watch out for cab fares! There's an official price list, which you can ask for. Before you try to negotiate, of course! Renting a car on Mahé and Praslin is ideal and much more affordable.
