The weight of luggage is limited to 15 kg, but the company generally grants a tolerance of a few kilos to each passenger. It is important to book well in advance as the ATR72 has only 66 seats - beware of busy months such as December, January, February, April, July and August. Some hotels have seat quotas, so don't hesitate to go through them for a flight + stay package.

It is located at 3 km from the entrance to Mahébourg and at 48 km from Port Louis Recently, its terminal has been equipped with modern equipment, services and infrastructure, including, on arrival: a post office, bank counters with ATMs, a Shibani Financebranch to exchange currencies at preferential rates, a tourist office, the counters of the main localreceptives (Connections, Mauritours, Mautourco, Summertimes...) and large hotel groups (Attitude, Beachcomber, Constance, Sun International, VLH.), some coffee shops, restaurants, a large Duty Free shop, etc. For the counters of the rental companies of voitures (Ada, Avis, Budget,Europcar, Hertz, Sixt...), leave the airport by the main door and go to the building opposite, well indicated. Away, a YU LOUNGE welcomes VIP ++ passengers.

Read moreThere are two in the capital: the one located in the north, Place de l'Immigration, serves the northern and eastern cities; the one in Place Victoria in the south serves the cities of the central plateau as well as the west and the south. Buses run from 5:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the urban area, and a service is provided between Port-Louis and Curepipe in both directions until 11:00 p.m. The locations and cities served are indicated by a sign on the front of each bus. For more comfort, at very low fares, opt for the express buses equipped with air conditioning.
PARKINGS DU CAUDAN
Read moreCentral and guarded, the Caudan Waterfront is the most convenient place to park. Arriving from the north on the freeway, keep to your lane and drive straight through the town. Pass the Caudan shopping center on the right and the southern bus station on the left. Don't take the overpass, turn left at the Caudan sign and go right under the overpass. Then right again 150 m further on - signposted to the parking lot. When approaching from the south, turn left at the Caudan sign.

Read moreMauritius Pride leaves about four times a month in Port Louis. The date is announced by the press, but you can also call the company's seat. The journey lasts between 28 and 30 hours. Two classes are offered to passengers: class Leisure with seats (return price of around 3 500 Rs or 87 €) and class Excellence with cabins (round round price around 5 500 Rs or 137 €. Attention: nine double cabins only!). These rates include all meals on board during the crossing. It is not always easy to get places: the seats, reserved as a priority in Mauritius, are taken upon the announcement. This must be done in advance. The journey from Mauritius to Rodrigues in general lasts longer than in the opposite direction because of currents, and the sea is sometimes bad.
A cruise ship, MauritiusTrochetia, also operates between the Indian Ocean Islands, including the Reunion, Mauritius and Rodrigues. With a capacity of 112 passengers, it comprises about cabins, reading rooms, restaurants and cinemas. Navigation lasts several days.

Port-Louis also boasts a lively nightlife, with numerous restaurants, cafés, bars and a casino.

Read moreCurepipe being the most important commercial hub of the island along with Port Louis, it is well served by buses. From the bus station, buses leave in all directions with regular frequency. Not far from the market, the Terminal Nord serves the northern cities, starting with Port Louis with a departure every 5 minutes from 5am to 8:30pm. There are also new locations next to the new metro station. The South Terminal, a few dozen meters from the previous one, connects Curepipe to the southern cities and especially to Mahébourg.

Read moreIt is the main bus station of the island, where most of the traffic is concentrated. It is lined with small Creole-style kiosks where street vendors sell snacks and handicrafts. From 5:30am, buses leave to serve the main corners of the island, at relatively regular times but rarely later than 6pm. Practical advice: for hiking, it can be interesting to be dropped off by bus in the heights, for example at Mont Lubin, and then to go back down to the coast by foot
