With Cambodia's low standard of living, prices for everyday goods are generally very affordable. When it comes to souvenirs, the lower end of the market is unbeatable. But you can also find top-of-the-range items at much higher prices. What's very local

The market is the place to find everything par excellence. In the souvenirs section, you'll find the traditional krama, a checkered scarf worn by men and women alike, beautifully crafted wood carvings, silk, local silver jewelry... and the famous Kampot pepper, which fetches a premium.

Tourist traps

Be particularly careful when buying items whose origin is difficult to determine. Precious metals and stones, in particular, are quite easy to imitate. If you're not a specialist (and you're not!), don't be tempted to make a purchase you'll regret.
