Practical information : Going out Oman
As for cinema, bowling, laser game, etc., the schedules vary a lot depending on the type of establishment
The performing arts are mainly the preserve of the Royal Opera - see online programming
The trendy bars, still few in number, are, with few exceptions, mostly located in international hotels and almost exclusively in Muscat (and to a lesser extent in Salalah). They are open until late at night, especially on Thursday (weekend eve) and Friday. Most cafes and shishas lounges are open daily until 10:00 pm - midnight.
To be booked
Some cultural outings such as the Opera's shows have to be booked in advance.
Look out! The sultanate has zero tolerance for drinking and driving. It is imperative to use the services of a taxi if you are having a drunken meal or party, even if you are just having a beer or cocktail at the end of the day or a glass of wine at lunch.
What's very local
Only establishments that have a liquor license are allowed to serve alcohol, i.e.: large hotels (even if the agreement of the license is not systematic and may be subject, in addition to the authorities, to the decision of the Omani owner) and a few rare independent restaurants and bars in Muscat generally belonging to international chains
Some hotel bars, mainly established in Muscat (Siddharta Lounge by Buddha Bar, Muscat Hills Beach Club...) receive international DJs. Find out about programming in the local press and on social networks
