Inside, you'll find objects that are 100% made in Oman and typical of the sultanate - pottery, basketry, carpets, jewelry, clothes, etc. The aim is not so much to sell as to promote Omani culture. The aim is not so much to trade as to promote the best of Omani craftsmanship. While the prices charged are higher than elsewhere, the profits go back to the craftsmen, so you can be sure you're not buying junk.

It used to be a lively market, and recent restoration work has brought it back to life without damaging its soul.
