The exterior looks more like an Omani administrative building, while the interior has a more contemporary style - but don't expect anything too fancy, even though the rooms play on a pleasant brown and ivory monochrome. The hotel is mainly aimed at business guests, although there are Deluxe Suites for families. On site: restaurant, gym, leisure room with billiards, various games and dry bar.

The stopover and roadside hotel par excellence, the Formula 1 of the Hajar, with no other vocation than to provide the traveller with a proper bed and air conditioning, a shower with hot water, a TV with satellite channels after a day of sightseeing or trekking. This charming guesthouse located at 200 meters from the Fort has a major asset: a garden with a real nice swimming pool! The maze of stairs and half-levels lead to pretty and comfortable rooms (air-conditioning, private bathroom, mattresses on the floor or beds of your choice) distributed in four traditional houses. From the rooftop decorated with carpets and from the restaurant with chairs and tables made of raw materials, the view plunges on the oasis and the old houses. Less a hotel than 19 rooms in a scientifically based structure designed for ecotourism: no garden, no swimming pool, few windows to limit nuisance. In the heart of the old town, a hamlet of several 16th century houses has been restored to its original state, as a legacy of another era. Despite these recent additions, the atmosphere remains authentic and the welcome wonderful, with activities such as traditional dances and music, Bedouin encounters, campfires...

With a luminous lobby surrounding 174 comfortable rooms, the youngest member of the Radisson family, although lacking a garden, has an exclusive asset in the form of a rooftop swimming pool with a large terrace bar. On the first floor, guests can lunch or dine on the Palm's indoor terrace, or at RBG, a quality steakhouse. Arranged in a U-shape, the resort features 56 hard-built bungalows, but covered in palm leaves, making them pleasing to the eye. It's the dry hostel, but we'll make do with it, because it looks like it's actually on the podium in Sur. On the other side of the "Eiffel" bridge, a 6-storey building with bronze reflections leans against a rocky spur and offers, on one of its sides, a plunging view of the waters of the lagoon. A room on the fourth or fifth floor of the hotel's 43 rooms can be booked there. The road, then the track, is long, beautiful and vertiginous, up to this altiplano that one gladly takes for the roof of the sultanate! At over 2,200 metres above sea level, winter awakenings are at 4° max, and in summer you can enjoy a 15° or 24° in the bright sunshine. As in the two other resorts a little lower down, we find the binomial chalets + tents, the first ones are spacious, with TV, air-conditioning and a bathroom, the second ones are equipped with less comfortable beds and an outside but private shower-wc. The ancestor of the Dhofar seaside resort, this seventies-style Crowne Plaza sits on one of Salalah's most beautiful beaches and, despite its aging decor, continues to brilliantly fulfill its role as a formatted hotel. For a stay of rest, leisure and bathing, the site is extra, offers a plethora of activities (9 holes, tennis, squash, diving club, wellness center, etc.) and guarantees the essentials: varied catering (5 tables), Pub, shishas. Preference for rooms in wing B, on garden level with sea view. New: the Ocean Blue Beach House is a must!

Tucked away in the scrappy urbanity of Ruwi, the Al Falaj has nice hospitality and dining spaces. The 148 rooms offer good value for money and conventional comfort, functional and without false notes. It is the restaurants and bars that create the difference by the appreciable diversity of the settings and atmospheres: from the Lords Pub to the Japanese Tokyo Taro, not forgetting the Stassen Tea Lounge or Kebab and wheels, one of the few theme clubs in the capital. Also swimming pool, gym, jacuzzi, sauna, hammam, tennis, swimming, martial arts, etc.

At an altitude of almost 2,000 meters, this establishment is like a star refuge. It's made up of air-conditioned and/or heated (depending on the season) cube-shaped "scientific station on Mars"-type buildings ( chalets, they call them) with bathrooms, decent beds and large, private, landscaped terraces. On-site: restaurant, BBQ, heated outdoor pool, range of activities (trekking and mountain biking in particular)... and the whole space to walk in freedom (views). The establishment is accessible without a 4x4 (although a Mini Cooper is not recommended).

This is the inexpensive address in the Qurum district, for the not-too-demanding traveler looking above all for central accommodation. The modest white building stands between the opera house and the sea, a stone's throw from the huge public beach and a number of great cafés and restaurants within walking distance. This prime location justifies the listing, without offering anything more. The old-fashioned, tiled rooms and apartments are clean, spacious, comfortable but drab. There is, however, a swimming pool in the courtyard for a refreshing dip and a parking lot.

Here we are in a real five-star hotel, with pleasant rooms and suites. Although all of them are very comfortable, avoid the ones at the back that look out onto the highway, "the mountain" they say. Sea view is better, but it also means industrial harbor view as soon as you turn your head a little to the left and especially when you enter the beach. So, stay at the pool in its gardens and enjoy the good services and facilities of this small provincial palace. On site: tennis, fitness, diving club, several bars and restaurants.

Despite its imposing architecture, the Intercontinental is a resort in its own right with its wide range of bars and restaurants (including the Japanese Takara, the Treat café, the cool Trader Vic's, etc.), its leisure areas (2 tennis courts, a large fitness center, 2 swimming pools, one of which is for swimming), and its vast gardens planted with palm trees giving access to the immense public beach of Qurm. Recently renovated, the rooms and suites are sufficiently globalized, high-tech and comfortable to please everyone - favour the "sea view" rooms to really enjoy the balcony.

As soon as you walk through the door, the oriental atmosphere envelops you. Welcome to the enchanted world of gilding! The lobby sets the tone with its Sultanian dome, stained glass windows and princely staircases. Renovated in 2023, the 280 rooms and suites are equipped with true palace comfort. The culinary offer is varied (Marjan, Tuscany, John Barry Bar...) and there is even a temple of entertainment in the annex with a bar, discotheque and grill. Another hotel whose location makes the most of seduction. It has 25 rooms, singles, doubles or families, and a restaurant. We are not surprised by the specialities of the map, Arabic, Indian, Chinese and Continental.

It's a small, unpretentious hotel (motel-style in the US) like dozens of others in the sultanate, especially in the more remote areas. Camped by the side of the national highway, it tries to fulfill its mission as emergency accommodation and, by default, as a break from the long road between Muscat and Salalah when you're showing signs of fatigue. Since we even have TV, we're saved. As usual in these friendly gargotes, it is wise to ask to see the room before paying, to check that the water is running and that the bed is made.

What a pity to sleep in the hotel when you are in Masirah! But the option will suit the réfractaires of the campsite which only have a small budget and can find refuge in this place you can no longer basic! Only 6 rooms, think about booking!
