The beautiful days are finally here! There's nothing like a little trip to get back in shape at the end of winter. But where to go in March? Here are some ideas for getaways that should help you recharge your batteries.
Where to go in March to enjoy the sun?
Without waiting for the summer, you can already start to change air, without going very far..
What if you went to discover some French islands?
Head for the Breton islands! Little frequented in spring, the islands of Brittany are very pleasant to visit in March. You can fill up on good vibes and iodized air in a preserved nature. We particularly recommend Ile aux Moines, the largest of the islands in the Gulf of Morbihan, renowned for its mild climate and its pretty typical fishermen's houses. The island of Groix, located 45 minutes from Lorient, is also a great getaway thanks to its beaches with clear waters and its steep coastline where hiking opportunities are numerous.
In the Vendée, the famous island of Noirmoutier is also a good idea in March! Accessible at low tide through the Gois passage, a road that is completely submerged when the tide rises, Noirmoutier-en-l'Île enjoys a rather mild climate all year round. Nicknamed "the island of mimosas" for its lush vegetation, it is the ideal place to pitch a tent and immerse yourself in nature. Its "Bois de la Chaise" has inspired the greatest artists like Auguste Renoir who painted it twice in a row. Today, it is the most popular place on the island, a timeless place bordered by the Atlantic Ocean where it is good to swim during the good days..
Where to go in March to enjoy nature?
To regain strength at the end of winter, a total immersion in nature is always welcome
At the foot of the Semnoz mountain, Annecy enjoys an exceptional geographical location. A real postcard, the town is a succession of charming places and viewpoints on the Bauges and Aravis massifs which surround it, not forgetting the superb lake where you can go boating... The mountain being close to the town centre, it is very easy to get there to go for walks on the various signposted paths. A real breath of fresh air!
The Dune du Pilat is also a great idea for a holiday in March. Located at the entrance of the Arcachon basin, it is the highest dune in Europe. Its fame is unquestionable, but you have to see it to believe it: with its 115 m height and 500 m width, its measurements are impressive! But what really takes your breath away is the climb! At the top, there is a splendid panorama over the ocean, the forest and the Cap Ferret peninsula. At sunset, it's even more beautiful..
Where to go in March for a city break?
If you're more in the mood for a city break, there are some towns that are particularly charming and exotic on sunny days
Just a few kilometres from the German border, Strasbourg is a popular international destination, home to the major European institutions. Its majestic cathedral is the most visited in France, after Notre-Dame de Paris. A symbol of the city, it was built in 1220 and remains one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture. The Grande-Île where it is located is the historic centre of Strasbourg. After discovering it, buy a sauerkraut to take away at one of the restaurants in the city centre, to discover the typical Alsatian cuisine!
Further south, Toulouse, the famous pink city, is particularly beautiful on sunny days! The small streets in the centre leading to the famous Place du Capitole, where the Gascon cross reigns supreme, will give you an idea of this gentle atmosphere. Let yourself be guided by the Garonne or the Canal du Midi for superb walks or bike rides, you'll be in heaven... Well known for its gastronomy, from cassoulet to duck confit to the famous sausages, we also readily admit that life is good in Toulouse! And, good news, you won't have any trouble finding take-away food in the restaurants of the centre.
