This small chain of coffee roasters is the place to be when you need to start the day on the right foot, or take a break when you don't have much time to look around. The space at the Brieža iela address is large, bright, all white with vitaminized touches of purple and orange (Cofyz's colors), and large windows that are a welcome wake-up call. The coffee is very good, and you can stop in at any time for a bite to eat, or to work on your laptop... Good, inexpensive and no fuss.

It was one of the first establishments to put good coffee on the city's map. But Kaspar wasn't always a barista. He used to be a carpenter, but his love of Arabica was stronger than his love of wood, and he went off to learn the techniques of coffee and latte art. On his return, he decided to open his coffee bar, which he calls "The Black Swan" in homage to the two swans in the town park. It feels like home, and Kaspar prepares his cups with love... and art (ask for a cappuccino, you'll see).

One of the city's first cocktail bars, and still going strong. Part bar, part cultural center, part club, the two floors welcome you with two different styles of music. While the second floor is more of a "bar", with plants that seem to grow from the ceiling, the second floor, with its sofas and canopy of light, is clearly where you come to dance. There are a variety of themed evenings, including karaoke nights that are often fun, and affordable cocktail prices, but the wait to order can be long and if you arrive late, the place can get crowded.
