After 4 years of construction, Croatia finally inaugurates at the end of July 2022 the Pelješac bridge. The work, one of the most important constructions since the independence of the country, allows to connect the north to the south, where the fortified city of Dubrovnik and several islands are located. It is a relief for Croatians and tourists alike, who will no longer have to pass through the Bosnian enclave of Neum and endure the long wait at border crossings. The bridge, which takes an estimated 20 minutes to cross, not only opens up a part of the territory, but also meets the following objectives: facilitating access to the region in view of the country's entry into the Schengen area in 2023 and strengthening the region's transport links with the rest of Croatia.
