This production and trade cooperative that has existed since the late 1980 s in Gitega is a «must» of tourism in Burundi. Originally, its activities were oriented towards the production and sale of agricultural and livestock products, but its artisanal sector subsequently developed successfully.

The Magasin Youth Shop in Jabe is the oldest in the capital; Kigobe, near Boulevard du 28 November and the cabaret at Gérard, opened in 2009. Both offer reasonable prices for quality food products (rabbits and poultry, eggs, butter and milk, fruits and vegetables…), as well as original furnishings, and especially ceramics recognizable to their specific geometric motifs.

Located at the entrance to the Mission Street from the central station, this boutique offers a limited choice of souvenirs that are not necessarily Burundian invoices but can be interesting for small gifts.

Under the chairmanship of Marie Goreth Nsengiyumva, this association brings together about women repatriated to their neighbourhoods since the end of the war, which vannent baskets for sale on-site. These baskets have the particularity of being manufactured with plastic bags and dried and painted corn sheets. Their purchase contributes to the financial autonomy of these active and friendly women.
