Events calendar Central African Republic

The national holiday takes place on December 1 st. In the morning a great parade takes place on Martyrs'avenue; In the afternoon, a canoe race animates the river: more than rowers make progress. During this very popular day, the streets of Bangui are very lively.

The celebration of the harvest is a tradition in the Central African Republic, punctuated by shows, animated by a large fair of agricultural produce, as well as by traditional parades and dances. At the same time celebrating the advancement of women, this festival is held in October, each year in a different city.

A day of August is set by the devin to celebrate the harvest of raffia wine, called péké. This event takes place in Mabo, 85 km from Bangui on the road to Damara. On this occasion, the Patriarch blessed not only the coming harvest, but also the quality of the wine and harvests them.

The Wandara ceremony distributes the merit trophies of Central African excellence in various fields, such as economics, politics, culture… The Wandara usually takes place in January, but tends to change dates.

It takes place most of the time in February: Métrages, mostly African and intended for a large audience, are projected outdoors, as in the space Linga Tere.

In June, the FISCO gathers storytellers from Central Africa, West Africa and France. It is held in different locations in Bangui, including the Arts Research and Education Circle (CREA).
