The sun is finally here and the temperatures are all mild. A good reason to take advantage of it by leaving for a change of scenery! For the moment we have to stay in France, and we can only dream of faraway destinations where we will go later... But where to go in June? Here are a few ideas for a trip to the heart of France, to help you recharge your batteries!

Where to go in June for sunbathing

The French Riviera in June is a good plan. The flood of summer visitors has not yet landed on the coast and the prices of hotels and restaurants are much more affordable than in July/August. And, above all, you can already swim in most of the seaside resorts in the region, the water is hardly cooler than in the middle of summer. The beaches of Bandol, Juan-les-Pins, Porquerolles or Hyères are yours... A little lazy time away from the crowds on the French Riviera is a dream come true at this time of year.

To enjoy the sunshine at low prices, we also recommend in June Argelès-sur-Mer, a seaside resort that benefits from an exceptional location at the foot of the Albères, the last links in the Pyrenees chain. Argelès-Plage, 2 km further east, is the ideal playground for long and beautiful walks on the fine sand, before taking a dip in the generally warm water in June.

Where to go in June to discover the great outdoors!

To get a fresh start in June, a big breath of fresh air in the great outdoors is always welcome.

Less than 100 km from Paris, the Oise is the closest green lung to the Ile-de-France region with thousands of hectares of forest, including the Compiègne forest, which is particularly pleasant with its lush oaks and marked trails. You can even practise silvotherapy, or forest therapy, here. Accompanied by a guide, you can discover the trees and their history, idle and recharge your batteries. And you can even cuddle the trees.

Further south, the Pays de Volvic in Auvergne is a superb destination for nature lovers, mainly thanks to the Puys mountain range, classified as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site. It is the only natural site in France to be so classified. The Puys are volcanoes that have been dormant for thousands of years... They offer exceptional landscapes and culminate at more than 1,000 metres above sea level. They are the ideal setting for an exotic hike. You can even take a guided tour with specialists who will tell you all about the history of these volcanoes and take advantage of the opportunity to take a tour of the Volvic water nature reserve where explanatory panels tell the whole story of this famous spring.

Where to go in June for a city break to unwind

Nantes is a good idea for a city break in June because of its pleasant climate at that time. On the banks of the Loire River, at the mouth of the estuary and 50 km from the Atlantic Ocean, Nantes is regularly ranked at the top of the list of cities where it is good to live. The city stands out for its commitment to environmental protection. The Green Capital of Europe in 2013, Nantes is home to more than 100 parks and gardens. Take advantage of the protected itineraries and greenways along the Loire to go cycling.

Still in France, La Rochelle is a superb city to discover in June, when the summer vacationers have not yet arrived! Situated on the Atlantic coast, this city with a strong ecological tendency is characterized by its medieval half-timbered houses or Renaissance architecture, and its narrow arcaded streets (17th century), but also a great biodiversity due to the variety of its natural ecosystems: low coasts, sandy coasts, cliffy coasts, coves, small capes, promontories... Four ports and three beaches have been developed on this magnificent coastline.

June is the official beginning of summer. It's the return of our outdoor activities. Take advantage of the temperatures to go trekking in the Basque Country. This is the best time for mountain trekking, as the temperatures are mild in the morning and moderate in the afternoon.

Still in New-Aquitaine, Lacanau is a good plan for sportsmen of all levels. It is synonymous with surfing, but not only!

There are

many facilities dedicated to the practice of sports and the discovery of the environment: dozens of kilometres of cycle tracks, marked footpaths, the lake of Pitrot dedicated to water skiing, the lake which delights fishermen, windsurfing enthusiasts...
