Day 1: San José

Steps: San José

San José, discovery of the city center: the pedestrian streets around the Plaza de la Cultura, around which all the activity of San José revolves. Stroll through the central market, then discover the Museo de Oro Precolombiano and the Teatro Nacional. Following the same avenue (Avenida 2), walk through the Plaza de la Democracia and visit the Museo Nacional de Costa Rica. The next part of the visit to San José will be devoted to two adjacent neighborhoods, the Otoya and Amón barrios, which make up the historical center of the city. The walk ends with a good drink, or better yet, a good meal at Café Mundo.

Day 2: Tortuguero

Transfer to Tortuguero. Visit of the village.

Day 3: Tortuguero National Park

Steps: Parque Nacional Tortuguero

Visit of the Tortuguero National Park (a must in Costa Rica). Visit of the lagoon by boat. Observation of turtles laying eggs at night on the beach.

Day 4: Route to Puerto Viejo de Talamanca

Steps: Puerto Viejo De Talamanca

Transfer from Tortuguero to Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, via Limón. Lunch in Limon.

Day 5: Manzanillo

Steps: Manzanillo, Puerto Viejo De Talamanca, Refugio Nacional De Vida Silvestre Gandoca-Manzanillo

Journey from Puerto Viejo to Manzanillo by bicycle. Visit of the Gandoca-Manzanillo National Park.

Day 6: Cahuita

Steps: Cahuita

Visit of the Cahuita National Park, the opportunity to snorkel and admire the beautiful coral reef.

Day 7: Playa Cocles

Steps: Puerto Viejo De Talamanca, Punta Uva, Santa Elena

Day to relax, swim on Jaguar Centro de Rescate animal park or the lazy refuge (in the morning).

Day 8: Arenal volcano

Steps: La Fortuna, Parque Nacional Volcán Arenal

Journey from Puerto Viejo de Talamanca to La Fortuna (Arenal volcano) via Limón. Passage through the lush San Carlos valley where the majestic silhouette of the Arenal volcano stands. A day is recommended with breaks.

Day 9: Day spa

Steps: La Fortuna, Parque Nacional Volcán Arenal

Travel from La Fortuna to the Arenal volcano. Swimming in the thermal waters of Baldi or Ecotermales.

Day 10: Orphanage of felines

Steps: Cañas, Laguna De Arenal, La Fortuna

Travel from La Fortuna to Rincón de la Vieja. Walking around the Arenal Lake with its beautiful panoramas. After Cañas, interesting visit to the animal orphanage Las Pumas (pumas babies, jaguars, ocelots, etc.).

Day 11: Rincón de la Vieja Volcano

It is very pleasant to walk and bathe in the hot springs at the foot of the waterfalls. It is possible to go for a horse ride and observe the fauna and flora with local guides. Visit Las Paillas: hot mud, geysers, waterfalls...

Day 12: Journey

Steps: Parque Nacional Rincon De La Vieja, Tamarindo

Journey from Rincón de la Vieja to Tamarindo. Surf.

Day 13: Nicoya Peninsula

Steps: Puntarenas, Nicoya, Tamarindo

Journey from Tamarindo to Puntarenas, then ferry for the beaches of the {3}Nicoya{/3} peninsula.

Day 14: Beaches of Mal Pais

Steps: Montezuma, Mal País, Santa Teresa

Journey from Montezuma or Santa Teresa to Mal Pais. Relaxation, swimming, fishing and surfing.

Day 15: Relaxation

Steps: Nicoya

Those who like the track will go to the land; others will enjoy the beautiful beaches of the Nicoya peninsula.

Day 16: Carara National Park

Steps: Nicoya, Parque Nacional Carara, Manuel Antonio

Journey from Nicoya to Manuel Antonio. On the way, visit the National Park of Carara.

Day 17: Manuel Antonio Park

Steps: Manuel Antonio

Visit of the Manuel Antonio national park (a must-visit) that forms a peninsula.

Day 18: San José

Steps: Manuel Antonio

Journey from Manuel Antonio to San José. After relaxing on the Pacific coast, the return to San José is quietly on beautiful mountain roads, among the coffee plantations.

Day 19: Central Valley

Steps: Grecia, Sarchi, Naranjo, Parque Nacional Volcán Poás

Day trip to the north of the Central Valley. Visit of the Poás volcano (the summit is accessible by car). On the slopes of the volcano, visit the small villages of Grecia, Sarchi (famous for the artisanal manufacture of carretas) and {3}Naranjo{/3} (colonial church). Return to San José.

Day 20: Return

Walk in San José for the end of your trip.
