Day 1: Djibouti-City

Steps: Djibouti

Visit of Djibouti-City. The European district and its streets drawn with the cord, its terraces of coffee under arcades. The lively, colorful, fragrant market. At the market, the women's clothes and the music show the diversity of the local population: Afars, Issas, Yemenis, Ethiopians, Eritreans, Indians. Day 2: Small and Big Bara

After one or two hours of driving in 4x4, you will discover fascinating desert areas. The sandy desert of Petit Bara and then the Grand Bara, a huge clay plain beaten by the winds, about 300 km², also very popular for sand yachting. Night on site or in Ali Sabieh

Day 3: Ali Sabieh

Steps: Ali Sabieh, Hol Hol, Djibouti

Visit ofAli Sabieh, located 90 km from the capital and 10 km from the Ethiopian border. In this region of Somali nomads, choose between Assamo, a border village, Hol Hol and its Eiffel viaduct... The new electric train linking Djibouti to Ethiopia crosses this region and makes a stop at Ali Sabieh.

Day 4: Dikhil

Road to Dikhil, capital of the region of the same name, at the limit of the Afar and Issa sociolinguistic groups and pleasant relay city on the road to Ethiopia. Visit of its palm grove, the oldest in the country. Night in Dikhil or road to As Eyla, a village far from everything, in the center of the immense Gobaad plain, and night there

Day 5: Abbot Lake

Road to Lake Abbe, a huge expanse of water, straddling Ethiopia and Djibouti. Unfortunately, its surface area decreases with time. Alien" landscapes, lunar and magnificent at dawn. Day 6: Lake Assal

Wake up in a grandiose setting on the edge of the lake. Trekking is organized in the immensity of this flat and silent surface, dotted with sandstone pyramids. With a little more time, it is possible for experienced hikers to go from one lake to another, up to the Assal Lake, following the tracks of the ancient Afar salt caravans. Return to Djibouti.

Day 7: Return to Djibouti

Steps: Arta, Djibouti

Return to Djibouti with, eventually, a stop at Arta, a climatic resort. Arta is also a site of hiking, its beach can be the occasion of a bath before returning in the heavy heat of the capital. And off Arta, when the period allows it, it is possible to observe whale sharks
