Day 1: Arrival in Cayenne
On arrival, pick up the rental car and drive to your hotel. Installation, free dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Cayenne, Rémire Montjoly
Steps: Rémire-Montjoly
Breakfast, drive to Rémire Montjoly. Departure from the Dégrad des Cannes marina in Rémire Montjoly, for a half-hour motorboat crossing. Disembark atîlet la Mère, also known as îlet aux singes.
Day 3: From Cayenne to Saül
Steps: Saül
Free morning and lunch. Drive to the airport. Flight to Saül in the heart of French Guiana, check-in at hotel.
Day 4: In the land of the orpailleurs
Day hike with a guide and introduction to gold panning.
Day 5: Hinterland Who's Who
The day will be devoted to discovering the richness of the local fauna and flora. The many insects and butterflies, including the famous morphos, can be observed during this walking tour.
Day 6: Kourou - Îles du Salut
Steps: Kourou, Île Royale, Île Saint-Joseph
Board a catamaran to reach the Isles of Salut. Free discovery ofIle Royale, where convicts were once deported. Alfred Dreyfus and Guillaume Seznec were the most famous prisoners, as was Henri Charrière, who described his stay and escape attempts in his book Papillon , which led to the film of the same name. In the afternoon, we drop off onÎle Saint-Joseph for a relaxing swim. Return to Kourou at the end of the day.
Day 7: Head in the stars
Steps: Kourou
After a good breakfast very early, drive and visit Kourou. Guided tour of the Guyana Space Centre. Presentation of the history of the European space conquest in the Jupiter "control tower" room where operational staff, but also customers, VIPs and the media gather for the launch of the Ariane rocket. The visit continues with the observation of the Ariane IV and V firing steps.
