Day 1: Saint-Louis

Steps: Saint-Louis

2.5 km long and 300 m wide, the first city built by the Europeans of West Africa, Saint-Louis is worth a visit for its typically colonial architecture, with its old buildings in warm colours and their wrought iron balconies. Since 2000, the city has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 2: Goree

Steps: Dakar, Île De Gorée

Drive to Gorée, a wonderful and unique island off Dakar. Go there to see the museums, stroll through its narrow streets planted with palm trees and flowering bougainvilleas, enjoy the quiet charm of the decrepit colonial buildings and its unique colours: reds with a patina of ages, Spanish (or Italian) ochres with fragile scales...

Day 3: Remonter the history of slavery

Steps: Île De Gorée, Rufisque

And of course, visit the Slave House, the place of Remembrance symbol of the slave trade of a continent in search of a disappeared history, a burning of red iron imposed by colonization. Next, you can quietly take the direction of Rufisque, a few kilometres to the south.

Places of interest :
MAISON DES ESCLAVES

Day 4: Rufisque

Steps: Dakar, Foundiougne, Rufisque

Then, you can quietly take the direction of Rufisque, a few kilometers to the south. Once you arrive in this former trading post, you will see the classic colonial architecture of the trading houses that had invested in groundnuts before turning their attention away from Dakar, where the port was better equipped. Then you will head towards Foundiougne.

Day 5: Foundiougne

Steps: Foundiougne, Ziguinchor

On the road to the south and Casamance, a stop is required in the quiet village of Foundiougne, for its particularly pleasant environment, in a meander of the Saloum. During the colonial era, it was a major port, as evidenced by its former warehouses and administrative buildings. Then we will take the road to Ziguinchor.

Day 6: Ziguinchor

Steps: Cap Skirring

The charming capital of Casamance is also a beautiful testimony to the country's colonial past. Between colonial buildings, the beautiful courthouse, the old colonial houses of a past red, the visit of the city is very pleasant. Possibility to go to the seaside resort of Cape Skirring.

Day 7: Relax and back

Steps: Dakar, Cap Skirring

After a few hours (or a few days?) of idleness in the seaside resort of Cap Skirring, it will be time to take over the road from Dakar.
