Day 1: Saint-Malo, the corsair city
Steps: Saint-Malo
From the Saint-Vincent gate, you will see the castle and the Quic-en-Groigne tower. Then join the ramparts which are spread all around the city. From the Bastion de la Hollande, you will admire the beach of Bon Secours, its swimming pool, the fortifications and the islets such as the Grand Bé where the writer Chateaubriand is buried. Although more than 80% of the city was destroyed during the Second World War, Saint-Malo was rebuilt almost identically. Thus, you can stroll through the cobbled streets with the charm of yesteryear and visit the Saint-Vincent cathedral where the explorer Jacques Cartier is buried.
